Coues 'n' Sheep Report post Posted July 11, 2009 Jeff, I don't have any imput for you on those, but the next fixed blade broadhead that I intend to try is the NAP Razor Cap.... I like the long desisgn, and personally have had better down range accuracy from longer ferrelled (sp) broadheads. Plus, I am liking the cut on impact approach. elkaholic Report post Posted July 11, 2009 hello - i went with the razor tricks this time around - i've been shooting out to 40 and they fly like darts - just like CNS i like the idea of the razor tip cutting edge - to be honest i looked into them after i seen they had a very good penatration cutting tip - from the broadhead penatration tests i posted in jan . they were like 0.7 lbs - in my opinion the test showed the tip can make a big difference - Gary Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
DesertBull Report post Posted July 11, 2009 If a COC type head hits square on a rib, do you think the tip will fold over or will it just cut through or slip around the bone?? No doubt they probably penetrate better, but the chisel tip seems a little more rugged with regards to bone. tcharchery Report post Posted July 12, 2009 I have had good luck with the Sonics. Two cow elk with no problems. Took out ribs on both and the heads showed no damage. Only problem was there was not much of a blood trail, although both animals went just 60 yards. Been looking for a better head though and I have the new Terminal locks on order. Coach Report post Posted July 12, 2009 +1 for the Slick Tricks. Very solid head, and they always fly well. I've never seen one that doesn't fly true, and if you look at the steel construction and razor sharp blades, you'll see that they are built extremely well. I haven't shot the Wac'Ems, but I have shot the knock-offs, (G5 Stingers and other Bass-Pro and Cabela's Copperhead look-a-likes) and there is a reason they are copied so often. They, too are a great head. I've shot a TON of broadheads and the ones that all seem to group together for me are G5 Montecs (too soft in my opinion and hard to get razor sharp), Slick Tricks (my favorite), Magnus Stingers, and G5 Strikers (a wac'em clone). All good heads, but when I get ready to hunt, I fill my quiver with the Slick Tricks. They have a solid steel ferrule and the Solingen blades come razor sharp and do thier job. That said, any of the BH's above plus the Shuttle T's (no first hand experience but I know guys who have had great success with them) will do the job. Just tune your bow well, and practice with the heads you'll hunt with and they will slice and dice. Get one that you can resharpen or replace the blades easily and forget about field points for the last 4 - 6 weeks before your hunt. Shoot only those broadheads, and you'll see which ones maintain accuracy out of your setup. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Coues79 Report post Posted July 12, 2009 Phat heads are some of the thickest and toughest metal for Cut on Contact broadheads that are on the market. If you were interested in toughness of a head, I don't think you can beat them. Supposed to (just like a lot of claims) fly just like a field point.
