Guest 300ultramag. Report post Posted July 9, 2009 You can do this only if his bow is tuned to start with. Which means the downward trend the arrows take would have to be a straight line down. The center shot would have to be set first. The way I set my center shot is walk back tuning like the other posters have suggested before. It should work though. Form and tuning is what may throw you guys off just as any other tuning methods. I understand what your trying to get at with making sure checking the gaps of the arrow. I usually just set my 20 pin then walk back tune before setting my other pins. Once I know my center shot is on then I'll set my next pin and so forth. Once I'm done with all my pins then I check the gaps within my sight to see if there are any inconsistances there. Im not familiar with the walk back tuning... could you give me a quick run through how its done. Beau

BowNut Report post Posted July 9, 2009 weird Dallas... I didnt see that till now. Im gonna try it...can this be done at usery? I go over on one of the first targets on the Hunter or Field round they are 80+ yards and we have them marked with rows of rocks every 10 yards. I do it there because there will be no one there and you can not really walk up in front of every one and shoot on the other ranges. The trails to get to them are at the north end of the parking lot then to your left.

Thank RR, I'll be using this as a reference from now on. One thing I would mention when moving your rest is that it doesn't take much to move your center shot. I would say move it an 1/8 of an inch at a time. Other than that try it and let us know how it worked out.
bobbyo Report post Posted July 11, 2009 Just a heads up. If you do not have a 40/ 60 yard range you could do just as good a tune at a shorter range. Even in most peoples back yard. I like the name. It is called the Modified French Method. First you sight in your bow at 3 yards. Move sight only. Once you are hitting a bullseye put a string on the arrow that hit a bullseye. Walk back to ten yards. shoot and adjust just like RRs post. shoot until you split the string. Then move back as far as you can and repeat. 15, 20 yards. This will tune your center shot nearly as well as at 60 yard walk back method. Bob
