bowhunter4life Report post Posted July 2, 2009 I think the point hoghntr is stating, by advertising this unit, it creates a frenzy of new hunter to a units. I look at it like this. I helped a good friend on his sheep hunt 4 years ago in 44, we were impressed with it and he took a great ram. but the next year eastman's posted an artical about a hog of a ram and high lighted that unit. If you look at the # of hunters over the last 2 years compared to the last 10 years, you could almost have the same # app for the 2 years then the last 10 years. now with all the time and money we spent getting to know this unit my chances have decreased 10 fold. now I apply for other units that have a lower applicants. I beleive as a common respect to all hunters to respect the units becouse I know many guys that spends months per year and 10's of thousands of dollars getting to know the units that they love to be in. that is why they hunt that unit, it becomes part of them! and YES WHEN THERE IS A HUGE NEW IN FLOX OF PEOPLE SWARMING A UNIT WITH ONLY THE MIND SET "THERE WAS A HUG BUCK TAKEN" IT BECOMES VERY DISHARTNING! again that is why we hunt public land but peoples nature is to follow the eye candy of the next big thing

nlacost Report post Posted July 2, 2009 Honestly I have already apologized for something that I didnt even have any knowledge about(map) and thats because I do understand what it means...I tried to make light of it and not get too worked up over ones opinion..my girlfriend and her son are recooperating nicely thanks for asking ...for those who read the editorial...they were almost killed in a deer collision in November, hence the Revenge term given...but I guess that someone is focused on the editors bad judgement call and I have to pay the price...its a burden I didnt ask for but we all do what we have too...I can only apologize so many times before its rude to keep hammering... Coues 'n' Sheep Report post Posted July 2, 2009 I think if someone wants to tell where he killed an elk, deer, pig so on and so forth he has all right to do so. If he then goes and hunts a different area then so be it. How many times have you said, "oh I saw a nice three point at so and so mountain". We all do it and you can't say you have never done it because thats like telling your wife you were not looking at her A$$ you were poping your neck. Don't forget high school is over so learn how to grow up. THATS MY 2 CENTS. Clay, I'm thinkin' you should add that to your Résumé..... I'm sure that those comments will move you to the front of the line with every Outfitter in the state! After all it only takes 3 crisp $100 bills to get that guide's license! Never mind all the really good guys that hunt that country and bust their tails that are now looking for a new "spot"... Hope it is one of your 100's of spots! Your "new" hunting buddy hit a home run on this deal... Glad all that country burned up... it might make this Flub a bit less painfull for all the good guys that love those hills. Nate, You need to man up..... .... If my hunting partner had loose lips like yours..... 2 other units would have maps like **a does.... You see lighting does NOT strike twice....My hunting partner is not only a blessed man, but also a Gracious one and not only truely respects the grey ghost but also the other Men and Women who chase it. I believe the term: Even a blind Squirrel... was used???? You are great at the strut but you have the swagger of a Lucky Duck.... There are a lot of guys on this forum that have put in years and decades of chasing these wicked little deer only to have their Arses handed to them, again..... You disrespect them, IMO. Don't ever forget that you were far more lucky than good.... as we all are when we harvest a coues with a bow. We all know the story of you standing on the side of the road with an un-gutted deer acting like you just shot a 100"er..... you need a steady diet of humility, cuz the diet of stupidity you have been on is stinking the place up. Humble up and shut up..... those are my two words of advice..... Best of luck on your up coming season. Amanda..... it has ben a while since the D.D. side of me has reared up.... sorry for that, but not sorry for what I said. Beau.... you are really more old school than I ever imagined...... Kudos! nlacost Report post Posted July 2, 2009 Thanks for the advice buddy...just wish some of these people would have stepped up to me at the ADA when they had the chance..no matter what I say or do it will always be wrong except those that were ACTUALLY there..they know and they have even stretched it out more than what it is..I set up a stand where I thought a good deer was and thats that..thats humility and I didnt mean to come across as a braggart or boisterous either..I am far more spiritual in the hunt than some people who are just killers and it seems this whole thread is about commercializing and selling out which I guess has already happened..I cant change what I didnt have any control over but what I can control is how I treat others..like I said I have apologized for seeming out of touch with some.I know that you guys dont believe that but I am not here to convince or piss off,or win anyone over.Wouldnt mind having a beer with some of you but then again..put yourself in my shoes and with what I have been dealing with since Novembers accident and then have a magazine and the media put a spin on it..talk to me in person and then make a judgement after a shooting session or something,I never claimed to be the best,I never claimed anything and didnt want any of this once I saw how it blew out of control..I am just a guy who likes to hunt and hang out with other hunters..but like I said you guys all know me better than anyone right? For those who look at me like the Anti-Christ stop by and have a chat then see if I am just some flatlander (which I am) and see if we agree to disagree..Thanks for putting me in my place though,I appreciate it..Nate

bobbyo Report post Posted July 2, 2009 Wow, What the heck. I am a neutral reader. I know nothing about the article, the area, the deer or the hunt. I am going to say it straight: You Rim Guys are coming off like jealous a$$es. Your honey hole has been compromised? Welcome to the club. C+S your gracious hunting partner? Didn't he come off as a complete dick when he posted here the few times after his great buck was measured. Must I go to the archives? The few posts that I have read from NLA, even on this post, where he is getting hammered, have left me with a completely different picture than what you guys are portraying. I have some good hunting buddies that live in Rim country and they have told me the stories of this petty B.S. that goes on up there. I did not believe it, until I read this crap. Now I know why they hunt down here. Man, I am sure glad I am not a trophy hunter. If I ever get a hair up my butt to become one, I will run off this thread and read it, to rid me of those ridiculous thoughts. Bob
krp Report post Posted July 2, 2009 This has to be more than someone read a magazine artical. No one gets this mad unless it's personal. This is frothing at the mouth, mad. Insiteing others that have no idea what the story is or really about. Insulting anyone that doesn't automatically see it your way. You should have kept it private. Without having a link or copy of the story provided all I see is a guy killed a really big buck, was excited and made money on it with an article and maybe some promotions. As far as getting so excited he told a little to much, like he killed it around Globe in the Pinals, and you guys just put all that out right here. I've seen the same from guided clients on the internet when they were excited also, I saw nothing wrong with that but where was the public outrage then. Outfitters promote units and areas on their websites or to clients all day long, generating more interest than a mag article. Wonder how these oldschool unwritten laws apply to that. Now I'm not against the outfitting industry in most cases but I'm not going to be insited into a rage over some lucky guy that only did the same thing that happens all the time in a less than experienced way, make money on a big animal.
