dogman68 Report post Posted July 5, 2009 I don't know of any that would, but there probably is someone somewhere who would sell their soul. I wouldn't give them the time of day personally.
KGAINES Report post Posted July 5, 2009 Seems like a ploy to end lion hunting, IMO. Chase a cat, film it panting in a tree with a bunch of yappy hounds under it, and plaster the poor little kitty on the internet. This is how these people work. SC is not a friend to hunters, bad news. Do you think they could find a houndsman to run with them? That is why I think a few other people have said in earlier posts; why buy an auction tag for this purpose when they could go buy an over the counter tag and do the same thing. The OTC tag would benefit them in the sense that anyone could buy it and use it, even recruit a houndsman and film it under the pretense of a hunt and passing the lion up with no mention of sierra club, but the auction tag holder will have paid money to be used by the department for lion projects, and the holder would have to find a houndsman that knows that he holds the sierra club auction tag and convince him they are doing this with good intentions. Maybe the sierra club can convince someone to give them a mexican grey wolf tag to auction, and a california condor tag too, both of those tags would seem way more fitting for them if it a no intended take photo safari, and they would be raising money for species they enjoy, but we pay a price for. AZP&Y Report post Posted July 5, 2009 Sierra Club- better update their website with some more accurate information. Due to their large home ranges it is has been difficult to attain good population data on the mountain lion. Some individual populations are listed as threatened or endangered. Mountain lions as a whole face serious threats, however, due to major habitat loss and fragmentation by highways and development. There is a year-round hunting season on mountain lions in Arizona They obviously aren't getting the information correct and need help with the basic G & F regulations. (sure some areas are open year around-but the 3 month 'moratorium' is going to go to what next time? Read on more about your local "Arizona" sierra club- http://arizona.sierraclub.org/conservation/mt-lion/index.asp AzP&Y
NRS Report post Posted July 5, 2009 Here is an article out of the Arizona Daily Star that talks about lions today. http://www.azstarnet.com/allheadlines/299737 maybe the Sierra Club will replace the kids pets and petting zoo because the poor misguided, healthy lion took up residence at their house. TLH Report post Posted July 5, 2009 This can not be accurate can it?? I mean he really just killed the goats for fun?? That can't be!! If you listen to the bleeding heart cat lovers they will tell you that they only kill for food and they only kill the weak and sick---this guy should have shot the cat the first time he saw one of his animals dead instead he wanted to make it part of his zoo and he got a lot of his animals killed because he started thinking with his heart instead of his mind. dogman68 Report post Posted July 5, 2009 Those people in "general" are unreasonable. Regardless of what the issue is. I would avoid them like a Muslim terrorist.
bonuspointjohn Report post Posted July 6, 2009 Hey Terry...... I have a feeling that the petting zoo guy is just a little weird. Noticed from the article that they "buried" the animals..... what a waste of meat. He also expressed a concern that his environmentally conscious friends would object..... What do they put in the water in Tucson?...Please note however..... the biggest concern we as sportsmen have is from the Center for Biological Diversity. Those folks are just not in tune w/ reality. They have repeatedly made claims that are not realistic and have several other fringe groups that sign on as co-plaintiffs. The Sierra Club is our most visual target, but the HSUS, CBD, and others are much more dangerous. I have had several conversations w/ Sandy Bahr and she is pretty irate w/ me and the hunting community because of statements that I made at the commission meeting when they awarded the tags. Commissioners Martin and Hernbrode are also livid w/ me because of articles I wrote in the "Tracker".....I hope that we all appreciate the next two years, because if we have another democratic governor we are pretty much assured of ideologies that are not in line w/ ours. Hunters may bitch and complain but they seldom get off their butts to do anything. The Sierra Club w/ 13,000 members has clout, political connections and lots of $$$$$. Might be smart for hunters to start joining the AZSFW because other than that group we have NO clout...bonuspointjohn
