30-378shtr Report post Posted June 19, 2009 Ok. How many of you have seen the new survey on the dept's website? What do you think? I'll hold my comments for now, as to not persuade possible replies.
GameHauler Report post Posted June 19, 2009 Here are my feelings but no one seems to care about the survey I guess they want to wait and complain after the changes are made so they have something to post about. http://forums.coueswhitetail.com/forums/in...mp;#entry151935
azpackhorse Report post Posted June 19, 2009 Took the survey, was a little torn between choices on a couple of the questions. I think it is a great idea sending the survey out, makes it easier for the lazy people like me.
krp Report post Posted June 19, 2009 I took the survey mainly for the youth issues, at least they listened to some comments but there were others that were important that they ignored. The most hotly debated issues and seemingly important to many of us never got a sniff, goes to show that we don't really know what's important to the real public. MRL1984 Report post Posted June 19, 2009 I erased the novel I had written. I don't know what the big deal is with missing a few days of school to hunt in grades K-12. My choice was make good grades get rewarded by missing days to hunt, make bad grades go to school while dad goes hunting. For some strange reason I always did good in school... For what its worth youth hunts didn't really work so well for me as a youth. It was better to hunt on the same hunt as my dad since I didn't have the ability to get there without him. krp Report post Posted June 19, 2009 Everyone's life is a little different. The proposal is for 30 tags in the 5 regions not units that don't have a dec youth hunt. That's 150 tags total in the state plus the 30 already available. Sometimes it's not just about getting out of school but in the case of being on a sports team that plays every weekend, the decision may be between being loyal to your teammates or going hunting. It's a small issue to some and a big issue to others. I would have liked to see the one and done per species on the youth hunts, then into the main draw addressed. I would also like to see the tag price for youths to be the lower price for all hunts not just the designated youth hunts. In Colorado, at least last year, a NR youth pays 100.00 for an elk tag total, that's less than the license and tag price for a Res youth here. Kent
youngbuck Report post Posted June 19, 2009 I took it. I was always told to do good in school and get my work done early so i could go hunting. I never missed a day of hunting. I think it would benifit some kids though. I almost laughed outlout about the over the counter javy tags too. "Hey we made buckets o money on the OTC elk lets do it for pigs were they dont live too" It might be alright though. Pig camp is always fun with abunch of guys chasin around deer and pigs with bows and quail with scatter guns. Your the lucky one if you dont have to gut a pig. I have always liked having hunts for different species at the same time as long as you can have a tag for both, and not 700 tags a species. HINT: WT and MD seasons at the same time is a zoo. Havin an archery turkey and a archery bear tag in your pocket hile your archery deer hunting sounds pretty good.
