stanley Report post Posted June 18, 2009 Doug, it should not really affect this years hunts. I assume the fire is not super hot, and with the monsoon rains, that burn area will have alot of deer feeding in it. When the warm fire occured on the Kaibab, the deer were back into the fire area when some spots were still smoking. This should provide short term and long term benefits...............Allen......... + 1 Allen (kind of....). As we all know, that area is different then the Kiabab so the growth and deer movement might be a bit different, but in general I agree with what you (and others) have said. In the mid-long term, this will absolutely NOT hurt that area. In fact, as you and I (and Doug & others) know, it will be VERY nice to be able to hike into some of those areas without getting your skin chewed-on by that CATCLAW!!! Anyone try to hump it into Brown in the past few years??? Time will tell, but I suspect that this is not the worst thing for some of those steep moutains! S.
