Wildfire Burning SW Of Tucson

06-12-2009 5:21 AM

(Baboquivari Mountains, AZ) -- A wildfire is burning about 60 miles southwest of Tucson. It's being reported the blaze started Thursday afternoon in the Baboquivari Mountains which are located in the area near Elk Horn Ranch and Kitt Peak. The fire is about 40 acres big and is apparently burning in an area and direction which is not threatening people or buildings.

It is now up to 200 acres and you can see it from Tucson, looks like it is burning in grass and light brush. should do some good habitat improvement for the deer down there.

Was started for us by "immigrants" trying to get rescued by starting a fire that quickly got away from them. Its growing.. I watched it for awhile this evening.
