muskrat Report post Posted June 6, 2009 The past 2 years I have hunted 35A at a friend's house. Well, I'm sitting here moping because it looks like I can't make the trek down to his place as planned this year. I was just putting in for a bonus point, but am getting the itch. Now I am debating, admittedly last minute - whether to put in for a closer Unit or just bowhunt this fall and winter. I've spent a lot of time in 37B, for example, and can count on two hands how many deer I have seen in the last 5 or 6 years, in that Unit. My wife is disabled and needs overnight care. the last 2 years she had a helper; that person has moved away. So, I can put in for a "commuter" unit (I live in Queen Creek) or just take a pass this year. That being said, I don't want to put in for a tag "just because" either. With my situation at home, I really need to put in for something within an hour or so. Willing to hunt mulies or Coues (I know - I'm a heretic)
azryan Report post Posted June 6, 2009 I would go 24B or 37B in your situation

JLG Report post Posted June 7, 2009 Marshall, How long did it take you to get down to 33 for your your daughter's hunt. There are alot of WT in that area, Take Care, JLG.
ac guy Report post Posted June 7, 2009 24b either WT or mulie. WT is a 100% draw, mulie about 60%, and there's plenty of both. Mulies can be found 20 min from your house , WT about 60 min away.
firstcoueswas80 Report post Posted June 7, 2009 Honestly, I would pass this year and get the point.
308Nut Report post Posted June 7, 2009 I would apply for the most premium hunt only. Then, if you dont draw you still get a point. If you draw your dream hunt, then it is worth the trouble and effort.
muskrat Report post Posted June 7, 2009 jlg - I thought of that too. I took a little over an hour. Definitely doable Coues krazy - I've scouted in the Payson area, but have limited exposure in 22. Will look over the Unit report tonight ac guy - you gonna be hunting 24B? we can take another crack at a joint venture.... Thanks everyone. I appreciate you taking the time to respond and offer advice. mm
Coues Archer Report post Posted June 7, 2009 What ever your instinct tells you. If you think you need to skip this year skip it you'll probably get one in archery season.
