azhuntergirl Report post Posted May 26, 2009 So I've been rifle hunting since I was about 7 years old, but just started getting into bow hunting. The boyfriend loves bow hunting, and I've met one other gal that shoots. It would be nice to find a few other gals that bow hunt to maybe bounce questions off of and get ideas from. I'm looking at bows, and honestly don't know the first thing about them. While the bf is great at explaining, and has a lot of knowledge, it would be really nice to broaden my own knowledge to make informed decisions on bow and arrow selection, as well as tactics and info. Any knowledge you can pass along, or people who would be interested in helping me start this new endeavor would be greatly appreciated!

CouesWhitetail Report post Posted May 26, 2009 You might want to call my friend Kathy Greene. She is an archery champion and works for PSE in Tucson. She helped me get my bow ready for my elk hunt. I will PM you her phone/email. You might also check a site called WomenHunters.org, lots of women archers over there. I shoot an older PSE bow (the stingray I believe). It's a fine bow, but there are so many great newer models out there to choose from. Amanda
azhuntergirl Report post Posted May 26, 2009 Amanda, Thanks so much for your advice, and I look forward to speaking with Kathy. I met you (briefly) at the G&F expo a few months back with my bf (who's known on here as coueschaser3). It's wonderful to get help and avenues of information that I can follow! Thanks a bunch! Happy Hunting, Rachel
grizzly Report post Posted May 27, 2009 As far as bow selection I bought my wife a Martin Leopard and she is in love with it. I got it for her in midnite blue, because it matches her cell phone. She hasnt expressed a desire to hunt but maybe someday. It does make it fun at the range when she comes.
RoughCut Report post Posted May 27, 2009 That is really great that you are getting started. My wife is taking it up this year as well. She has a cow elk tag this sept. so she is pretty psyched to get her feet wet. We looked for the right bow for weeks, and we found the Razor Edge by Diamond to be hands down the best choice. I have no allegience to any bow companies. (I shoot a hoyt). They are super high demand and can be really hard to get. Sportsmans was out of them for like 3 months. This bow is great if you have young ones coming of age as well. It's versatility is unparalleled. It's draw weight can be adjusted from 29-60# (I have heard people crank 'em down to 15 and shoot great) with draw length adjustablity from 19" to 29". It shoots smooth and accurate and my wife loves it.
EBB Report post Posted May 28, 2009 Wow! I saw the title and thought that G&F had given us a new opportunity. I was assuming you'd have to use blunts though. Now after reading it, all I can say is HAVE FUN, and welcome! EBB
