azphil Report post Posted May 17, 2009 I atteneded the first day of the NRA convention on Friday- Great response in attendence. The Grassroots Forum had over 350 people- double from last years convention. There was a 1/2 to 3/4 hour wait to get into the exibit hall- The Fire Dept.- was in crowd control mode. It was packed!!! US Airways Arena was sold out to hear the featured speakers. It's an event everyone should experience. We need to get every gun owner, hunter and fisherman signed into membership. Most people don't know of the stealth methods being employed by this administration to restrict our rights. A new one H.R. 45 is being bought up for consideration- Look it up and see what's going on. Contact your reps and tell them to deep six this thing. Send this out to your e-mail lists- We need to get more people involved in the political process. We can't be asleep at the wheel, while one by one, our freedoms are taken away or taxed out of reach of the average outdoorsman! Ted Nugent will be there on Sunday- I will make an attempt to get into his show!!- He is so passionate about hunting and the natural way that he turns some people off, but there is no one more dedicated to our sport- he needs to be commended for his hard work. See you at the show!! PS -Drag a friend down there with you- You'll never see a bigger gun show and so many goodies that you won't have time to see them all! TAM Report post Posted May 17, 2009 I was real disapointed when I found out that the trade show that my company is participating in was scheduled for the same weekend as the NRA show. Unfortunately I won't be able to attend.
ghost hunter Report post Posted May 17, 2009 Got there about noon yesterday. There seemed to be a good crowd in and around the place although you would have like to see millions. Watched them interview Ted for a while then had to get back to what I was supposed to be doing. Hope the NRA gets lots of new members and contacts. I saw 8-10 different news type cameraman and personalities walking around talking to people and getting film footage. Hope they come out favorable and not to try and develop a new list of 'undiserable' Americans.
Chef Report post Posted May 17, 2009 Heading out today! I hope to come home tired and broke.
azphil Report post Posted May 18, 2009 Ted Nugent gave a very inspiring speech. He talked for 1 hour without the use of a teleprompter- from the heart. He said if you really believe in what you say the words flows naturally. I hope his talk gets put on youtube- run a search- it is worth watching. It's a call to action -to preserve our rights and our privliges. Sunday wasn't as crowded as the previous days but it made it nice to visit the booths and have time to leisurely enjoy the show. Get involved- our sport and our rights depend on it!
GameHauler Report post Posted May 18, 2009 I heard 60,000 attended and 6000 at the banquet, the largest banquet ever held in Phoenix.
elkaholic Report post Posted May 18, 2009 hello -- guns - guns -guns and more guns from every manufactor and custom dealer from accross the U.S. - hands on makes a show like this one a success! Anything to do with guns and reloading could be found. some hunting stuff also. Losts of interesting items - kinda hard to see everything but i tried my best. Watching and listening to Ted Nugent was inspiring. This country needs more men- like him -willing to take on the challenges we face to keep America free , proud to fight for our american heritage and speak the truth for all to hear ! I'm sure you can go to Ted's website and watch this seminar/show if you missed it !! Well worth it !! Gary
kphunter Report post Posted May 18, 2009 Anyone know if the Ted Nugent seminar from the NRA show was recorded and available on You Tube or somewhere else online?
Kilimanjaro Report post Posted May 18, 2009 It was a good show.. I went on Sun. Got set up with The Claw from Cade, got a few knives from Knives of Alaska at a really good deal, etc. and got to see some of PHX's "scenery". Yum.

TAM Report post Posted May 18, 2009 Someone mentioned that they hope the NRA gets some good news coverage out of this. I watched Fox News last night and was very disappointed to say the least! The only angle that Fox covered on the convention was that it brought in about 72 million dollars to the state. They said that that is more than the NBA All Star game brought in. The only thing that they discussed in the coverage is what a great boost this show is to the Arizona economy. They even had Phx Mayor Phill Gordan sound bites on how happy he is to see all this money come into the State. That is a bunch of BS! They could have easily reported on the real issues at hand and the real reason that there were record crowds, and record dollars spent at this convention, but they rolled over like every other local news station and had nothing to say about the real story. Chef Report post Posted May 19, 2009 Had a fun time and saw some members there. Couple of CW stickers in the parking lot too! Ended up with a holster, a pair of boots ordered, and I even bought some of them "as seen on TV" insoles. Met up with the smith that reworked my levergun too. All in all a great time.
