I have shot whisker biscuit (WB) for years all year long as I like the KISS philosophy. I changed things up when I got my X force as I wanted to tinker more so I opted to try a drop away. I started with a Trophy Taker pronghorn and ended up not liking the containment factor. I quickly moved over to the Extreme FC Angled slot (see pic)

Yes a micro tune would be nice but you can tune a standard version just as good, but it will take you longer and probably frustrate you more, so depending on how picky you are go with the right one that fits you adjustably.

For hunting I couldn't beat a WB with the set it and forget it aspect. Although I like the drop away I can't say I'm better with it and I can't say I won't switch over just before my elk hunt to a WB so I can have the 'set it and forget it' feel on the hunt. That'll take some time over the summer shooting the drop away to see if I'm willing to make that commitment. If you're 90% target shooting than a drop away would be fine. If you are 90% hunting then I suggest the WB. Technically if you have them both tuned properly and have good form... they will out shoot most shooters any day. I know I can't shoot near as good as them when they are setup correctly and using good shooting from. That's the key where most fail.

Good luck and let us know what ya go with.

I had a whisker biscuit and liked it for ranges up to about 35 yards......anything past that it seemed like a knuckle ball and I lost some zip and and control. For two years now I have used a ripcord and I have the same control at 20 as I do at fifty and can say truthfully and mistake I do make is not due to my rest. Just my two cents.

Howdy,

I have the Pse drop-away prowler. It is very simple and very cheap considering. Under intense stress the prongs are easy to find with your arrow. I went ahead and glued one of those arrow holding jobbers. Holds my arrow just fine ad has 0 issues when drawing back. Think it costs a few bucks. I also put some foam on the riser. So I don't make any noise if my arrow comes into contact with the riser. Like mention earlier in the post by cooco. It doesn't hurt to quiet the release. I guess when the prongs hit the rest. I think there's more noise from the total function of the bow, myself. Anyways, Cheap, basic, functional, and has helped me kill things... Peace

Haven't tried one of those drop-away whisker biscuits yet. But with the current system. They probably work well. If you have nerves of steel and 0 buck fever, when it matters. IMO
