mattys281 Report post Posted May 11, 2009 Out doin some early season scouting, looking for sheds & checking trail cams.... came across this guy cat-napping under a tree at 38 yards. Why do I always forget to buy the danged lion tag! Ohh well, guess I'll pick one up before my next trip... I've glassed up one or two of these critters & seen quite a few turn up on my trail cams, but this is the first one I've ever been that close to. Pretty exciting! No lions in this one, but still a nice view of the beautiful White mountains!
DubTee Report post Posted May 11, 2009 Cool pics, I have yet to see a cat out there. Imo, the perfect lion repellent is a lion tag, maybe I won't buy one this year so I can see one.

mattys281 Report post Posted May 11, 2009 Sweet pics man! What happened after you took the pics? Any luck on sheds? He/she stared at me for a minute or so & finally got fed up w/ the voyeur... Can't blame it, I can't sleep if someone's staring at me either. Finally got up & took off outta there. No luck on the sheds yet.

GameHauler Report post Posted May 11, 2009 Cool encounter and nice pics Wish my first was that far away and enjoyable. I was up on 4 Peaks to do a little lion calling. All I had was a mouth call so I set up with my back to a small bluff. After about 15 minutes of calling a lion let out a scream not 10 feet above my head After cutting off all my shirt tails and walking while doing circles to keep an eye in all directions I made it back to the truck swearing I would never do anything like that again. To this day I can remember that sound and still makes the hair stand up on my neck. Did not mean to hijack just brought back the memory Thanks for sharing
