Y'all helped me choose a powder, now bullets?

Recommended Posts

Thanks for getting me squared away with the .270 powder. I am looking for a good bullet that must meet the following requirements:

  • Must have a BC of .43 or higher
  • Maintains terminal performance at 500 yards
  • Must be 140 gr or less
  • Must be terminal down to 2000 fps

I don't know if this is being too picky or not. I loaded it up with the 130 nosler ballistic tips. One of y'all told me that you and some company had some issues with the long range performance. Thanks for the help in advance.

definatley noslers are good, but i would go with the bergers, they are supposed to be really great an are excellent at long ranges, thats what the best of the west uses. what ive seen and heard are only good things

I've tried them all and they are all very good. for the last few years I have become a fan of Barnes. I have had great luck with accuracy, and performance. I have shot berger, nosler, hornady, sierra, and a few others and I have to say, for the last 3 years I have gone strictly to Barnes TSX and MRX. My sons have shot several deer at very long range.

Look at the Bergers, Sierra Game Kings, and Hornady Interlocks. I believe they should all fit your criteria. Shoot them all and go with the one which groups the best.

Good luck,

I know alot of guys who have shot alot of bullets in the past few years and alost everyone I know has changed to accubonds. I started shooting them per RR's suggestion a few years ago and have seen great results. I know of balitic tips failing at long ranges, barnes not opening up at long ranges and a lot of other issues. I'm not saying accubonds never mess up, but i have never seen it. They have worked great for me, and alot of other people. The only bad thing ive ever heard is that they arent the cheapest and one guy couldn't get the .25 caliber to shoot well. I have some .25 110s to load up in a 25-06 to test that though. I would really like to try some bergers though. You might wanna wait for lark to chime in too. I know hes tried alot of different stuff, more so in a 270.

i'm the worlds foremost living authority on the .270. i shoot 140 gr hornady interlocks. i've tried about everything there is and the el cheapo interlocks are as good as you can get. to me they perform better on big game than any of the bonded bullets. i wouldn't waste my time with any solid copper bullet. unless you're a condor lover. Lark.
