truehunter Report post Posted May 6, 2009 Ok so I think most of us can agree we all want the quickest, most accurate, smoothest bow on the market. But I dont think you can get it all without compromising another to an extent. I know many people are in the same vote as me with all the new great bows out there it is hard to make a decision. Ive heard a bunch of bad mouth about the mathews bow this year, but in reality I think they are pretty good. Ive pretty much narrowed it down to the AM or the reezen. So my question is if you were to choos which one and why/?? I know that many say the bow should choose you but it seems that both of these bows are choosing me, and I dont have the cash for both. Is the reezen all that much faster?? I know most of the bows IBO are not accurate. there was a test done on the AM and DXT and it showed with same arrow and poundage etc. the Am shot 3-4 FPS faster than the DXT when the DXT IBO was 326 and AM is 320. Hmm are the bow companies lying to get more people to buy their bow for speed?? Anyway just wodnering what your opinion is on this. Im having a tough time. Thanks
DubTee Report post Posted May 6, 2009 I'm a PSE honk, so I don't have an opinion on which of the two bows mentioned are better. The IBO's can be bit midleading sometimes though. Word on the street is that most companies bows (PSE included) come a little long on draw length 1/4" or 1/2" so they can come close to the IBO's that are advertised. Most bows can achieve their IBO's with some tuning, but very few out of the box (hence the sometimes longer draws). I have heard that Hoyt's bows are the closest to IBO out of the box and usually closest to exact draw specs as well. With a bit of super tuning Hoyts can outshoot their IBO's quite often. Now is 3-4 fps going to matter when comparing bows, not really, then you go back to the saying (although cliche but true) "buy the one that fits you the best." elmergoo Report post Posted May 7, 2009 What I heard from a rep from one of the big companies is that to set up to IBO standards all bow manufactures shoot the bow at 70 pounds at 31 inch draw with a 350 grain arrow with no fletching. Thats how they can advertise the speeds. Anybody knows more or heard something different please chime in. So whatever bow you choose , set it up to the mentioned conditions and really see what f.p.s you can get. Wouldn't hunt without fletching myself.
DubTee Report post Posted May 7, 2009 I believe it is a 30" draw for IBO, the rest was correct.
ultramag Report post Posted May 7, 2009 Not really a right or wrong awnser to your question. fps second game is highly over rated. get the bow YOU want, not the one someone tells you to get or the one the salesmen pushes on you, get the one that fits YOU. You will not notice the 10 fps differance, however you will notice if the grip don't quite fit your hand or the weight of the bow when carried around. truehunter Report post Posted May 7, 2009 I found an interesting review about the two bows from an unbiased person. http://www.dewclawarchery.com/ProductReviews-a/153.htm They found that the reezen can be very quiet however you need to add extra onto the bow to make it that way which overall the bow will be extremely heavy. The AM was able to perform well being light weight nice draw cycle and still shooting very fast. check it out.
