GameHauler Report post Posted May 3, 2009 I can't be the only one that wants one!!!! Look out thieves!!! Now if it has an explosive charge we are set! No, Your not the only one that wants one but maybe one of the ones that can afford it. Have you looked into the cost of the satellite link and how well of a signal you will get from it? One thing I believe is that I will not get phone service where I would want to use it so I have no way of knowing if the camera is transmitting to the sat. till I get home or to a place where I could call my wife to see if it was working. I think it is just a little early to invest in that type of camera. If you get one let us know how well it is working and please try testing it in remote places DEEP in a canyon
Bucks_N_Yotes Report post Posted May 3, 2009 Where I usually use my Cameras I think its going to work great. I just might order one next month and give it a shot. I just think its flipping awsome that you can get live pics and video from your camera in real time. I would be willing to bet that we are not far off from getting a satalite link to our cameras. Rio Report post Posted May 3, 2009 Guys, this is a great idea, but make sure you have cell coverage before you dive into this solution. There were a couple other manufactors last year that had the same thing, ScoutGaurd or something like that, it was very expensive, plus the investment in the addtional cell phone plan. Most of the places where I would have like to have this feature, I had no service, places like unit 39, 41, and 42, get's very spotty the further you get away from cities. Had the same thing in NM in the units that I hunted for deer. The plan is with AT&T, and my experience is there coverage is not great in the south west states, I get much better coverage with verison, and I was having problems getting coverage. Sunsetfarms, I think we may have had camera's set up on the same water catchments last year looking at your previous post. I ran into a game warden last November/December time frame, Dan Uriquedorez (not sure of the last name spelling), he gave me some info on various water sources, and offered a deal, for every pic I sent him he'd send ones that he had recieved or got off his reconyx's. I believe some may have been ones you previously posted. If you're interested in sharing notes/pics on unit 39/41/42, let me know, I'm planning on setting my camera's back up this month.
