THEY'RE BAAAAAAACK

Recommended Posts

Six bulls were feeding on the ridge at the end of the street this evening. Just a few scruffy coated bulls with new velvet to fire up this season's elk hunts.

Good deal Doug, it's good to see what made it through the winter. Also gives some incentive to find the antlers that were left on the ground.

The Kachina bulls have not been venturing to the meadow, so photo ops have been slim. Today, I was called to be told that the bulls were bedded and feeding near the wetlands, so the camera was grabbed and placed atop the monopod. Six bulls were enjoying the shade on this 90* day.

I was able to get about 35 yards away for almost half an hour, before they rose and ventured to the open basin to feed. The San Francisco Peaks then made a nice backdrop.

Doug, It looks like split fours is starting to decrease in size this year. He is starting to get old at this point. Is there still a big 5x5 running around in the group? David

As always... Great pictures Doug! My husband and I were just out there the other day, we discussed how the bulls have gone into hiding early! With this heat today I don't blame them! Are you going back to Sunrise next week?
