Well I am feeling pretty good about my new pack gun.

All I need now is a tag :(

What we have here is a Thompson Contender

chambered in 7-30 Waters with a 24" barrel and

a Pentax Pioneer scope which I bought 2 of from Doug at

Cameraland at a super price.

It will be upgraded later but is a great scope for the $

Total overall length is 37-1/2"

A Harris short bipod and weighing in at well under 7-1/2#

May also pick up another set of wood that does not shine so much while hunting.

Plan on trying to use Sierra 7MM 130gr Spitzers #7250 since I have over 1000 of them

but will no doubt be testing the Berger 140gr VLD and others.

Now to get to the Range

Hey Mike, Thats a sweet looking gun. You can cut down on the sheen by rubbing down the laquer finish with very fine scotch brite pads and then buff it with a wood finish wax.

Gamehauler:

Let me know what you think of the Berger VLD's. I've been watching the guys on Best of the West use those bullets and am pretty impressed with their accuracy and knock down power.

Also, I've bee thinking of installing a Harris bipod - how easy is it to install and does it require any drilling into the forend?

Will do.

The bipod attaches to the sling swivel stud

then the sling will attach to the bipod.

Very easy to do.

I had to add a swivel to this forend.
