Contest Question?

Recommended Posts

Since nobody got drawn at the department except the Chief, the guys decided to have an archery big buck contest. The problem is that not everybody hunts coues deer, so my question is how would you for instance compare a 90" coues to a mule deer, and so on? What do you guys think would be the equivalent?

Would the % of P&Y minimum record book score work?

65" is min for coues typical

145" is min for mule deer

So a 95" coues would be 95/65 = 146% That would equate to a 212" mule deer.

65 seems low, so you could base it off of B&C minimums.

Just a thought.

Add a 100" and you should be close.... shooting a 90"er is like a 190"..... 110" is like a 210"....IMO. ;)

My friends and I when we have done these contest we have used a 60 inch difference so a 90 inch coues is the same as a 150 class mule deer I think that is as close as you can get. IMO

Conor- I think because he is from Lakeside he probably is on a fire dept up there. Why don't you post a pic and story of the lion you glassed up and killed this year, pretty cool and rare. You accomplished in your young age something that 90% of us will never make happen.

Nice job.

I think it is very tough to compare, I think if you spot and stalk getting a 85 incher is like shooting a 220+ carp. :)

At least mine felt like that.

Probably 100 inches is pretty close, maybe a bit less.

EDIT>>> I just found your post on that lion...congrats again.. I didn't know you posted that.. SWEET
