You might just buy some toluene at the paint store and add this instead. 

I know some guys add acetone to clean CATS up.  They still a special additive to do this. 

The classic insurance is a big risk because of you are in violation and have a claim they will deny it. 

You are correct ... it can be risky if not used for intended use. I rarely drive mine on the weekends and one even has the motor out of it now but I keep the coverage for weather damages or theft attempts and what not.
