border units ?

Recommended Posts

I would like to put in for a non resident couses deer tag with a good chance at getting drawn and also fair chance of at least having some chance at a mature buck. We were going to put in for one of the 36's probably 36b but the more I research the more I'm concerned with safety in any of the border units. any suggestions on other units with good draw odds and enough public land where a couple of guys hunting hard might have success?

Go for it. I have been hunting in 36b for a couple of years I have NOT had any problems, I have heard that some guys have had some issues but not me, as far as units go any unit that has coues has some good bucks somewhere. the boarder unit have the higest density of coues along with some great bucks. good luck

I too haven't had any trouble with the border units. I was in 36C last year. Though I had two encounters w/ illegals they weren't threatening in any way. The first group we glassed up were just trekking over the mountains. The second occured in the evening when we were sitting by our campfire. An older mexican man saw the fire and was asking us how to get to the main road because he wanted to turn himself in. (speaking only spanish, of course). The guy looked pretty bushed.
