audsley Report post Posted June 6, 2009 I seriously question the need to mess with the wood to make it a more neutral color. I think it's beautiful the way it is, and there's something to said for keeping things original. But if you have to do it, I strongly recommend Frank Wells at 2nd Amendment Sports. Back in the 60s and 70s he made beautiful custom walnut-stocked custom rifles. He would give you back a stock more beautiful than what you took to him. Harry Lawson's grandson is also a good stockmaker. He can be found at the Lawson gunsmithing shop on N. Richey. Depends on how much money you want to put into this.
