thegunsmith2506 Report post Posted March 26 I haven’t fished Powell in years and it was from a boat. In a couple weeks we are meeting my sister’s family there for my son’s birthday and I was wondering about fishing. We are camping at Lone Rock for 3 nights and I would want to fish close to there. I have my son and 2 nephews all under 11yo to entertain. Is it worth taking some poles or just a waste of time? Mostly looking for bluegill and catfish but anything that bites will work. Thanks! trphyhntr Report post Posted March 26 Going to Powell without a fishing rod would be a waste of time
AzDiamondHeat Report post Posted March 26 we used to spend a week every year at lone rock and it can be hit or miss from the beach. lots of waves and boat traffic can be challenging and depending on water level can be shallow. It is certainly worth doing it though and you will likely have success. at the north end of the beach is some cuts that are very good if the water is high enough. this time of year probably not though. But i would definitely try up in that area.
WHT_MTNMAN Report post Posted March 26 Small mouth are doing pretty well in that lake. You can catch them from the shore and docks. I would absolutely take a few fishing poles and try it out. Throw in some bait for catfish and see what happens. The water will be pretty cold still and so I doubt you will have much competition from the skiers and surfers but who knows.
