PRDATR Report post Posted yesterday at 12:46 AM I am looking at putting one on a 30-06 strictly for hunting. Pros/Cons? My biggest concern is loosing eye relief going up in power. Leupold seems to have never figured out to not have that happen. Usually great glass and bumps don't ever seem to affect the POI. https://www.amazon.com/Leupold-VX-6HD-3-18x44mm-Riflescope/dp/B01MS02OS2?th=
bigj23 Report post Posted yesterday at 06:31 AM I have one and love it. I have not had any issues with the eye relief. We have it on an Sig Cross and my daughter can shoot it and I can as well with the stock out. The glass is exceptionally clear. My older at son was shooting it out to 700 and couldn’t believe how much better it was than our other scopes. Best investment I have made to help make an accurate rifle. AZAV8ER Report post Posted yesterday at 02:06 PM My experience for the last 25 years of hunting have been with a 30-06 with a fixed 6X power Leupold, a Swarovski Z3 3-9X36 on a lite 270 and now a VX-6HD 3-18 on a 6.5C. The VX-6hd 3-18 is heavier and in my experience more power than required for shots out to 400 yards. The fixed 6X worked great on elk out to 400 yards and the 3-9 was sweet for Coues out to 350 yards. Currently my VX-6 is on a 10lb rifle and I use it for hunting and rifle silhouette matches, it works great for both and can not think of a time when I felt eye relief was an issue. I have about 1300 rounds on the VX-6 and around 1/2 have been dialing up and down for varied distances with no issues. The TMOA reticle is nice for wind hold offs for longer ranges.
bonecollector Report post Posted 23 hours ago I just put that scope on my 6.5 prc So far I like it. You missed a good sale on them a couple months ago.
yotebuster Report post Posted 23 hours ago I have had three vx 6’s. I none of them tracked well enough to use the turret on them. If you’re just gonna sight it in 2” high at 100 yards and call it good I’m sure they’re fine. Much much better options out there in that price range if you’re thinking of dialing turrets though. Some like you have nothing but bad experiences with dialing Leupold scopes while some like me have have fired 1,000's of rounds attending shooting matches or practicing and hunting while dialing for different yardages and have zero issues with the 6 scopes I have used for about 6 years. Just not normal for one customer to have several and all bad units and the other customer to have a number with no issues, some degree of randomness would be expected. Lucafu1 Report post Posted 18 hours ago I have a few of the original ones (they're on their 3rd version now). Mine track out to 1300 the same as my swarovski. I think the clicks could be better for sure though. I would buy another without thinking about it.
PRDATR Report post Posted 18 hours ago Thanks all for the replies. It's a bit heavy for my liking but it sounds like a solid choice. I doubt I'll ever shoot it past 300 yards but I like the higher magnification for shooting at the range.

AzDiamondHeat Report post Posted 11 hours ago im not a fan. i am not a glass snob but the only experience i have with the vx-6 is poor. my buddy has one on his 6.5manbun and i have shot it quite a bit. just doesnt ever feel clear to me. he may have a "bad" one though. it actually suprises me each time we go out as how bad it looks to ME. i have cheaper scopes amd more expensive scopes that all seem more clear.
