.257 Weatherby Loads

Recommended Posts

Hey guys my dad got all setup with a new rifle/scope setup along with a new reloading kit!

My question is what are some loads that you would recomend for the .257 Weatherby. We are wanting to try to get him setup shooting 110 or 115 grain. We are looking at the 110 Accubonds, 115 grain Ballistic Tip, 115 grain Scirroco II, or 115 grain Berger VLD.

If it will help the rifle is a Remington 700 with a 26 inch barrel with a 1 in 10 twist.

Chrissy,

Congrats to your Dad on the new rig!!!

Bittner shoots the Barnes Triple Shock with Amazing results and I know Casey had good results with the Berger (as much as he hated to admit it!)..... So I'd pm those guys about thier loads! Good luck!!

I'm shooting a vangard moa. my best loads so far are

64 grns imr 4831 115 partition gets .98 inch

63.5 grns imr 4831 115 partition gets .78 inch

68.5 grnsw RL22 110 accubond gets .56 inch

the rifle is extreamily picky one grain each way and it will open up . sometimes up to two inches I keep the total length of the bullet the same size as the factory ones or 3.250"

I've got some realy good 22/250 recipes and am working on a 270 short mag and 300 win mag

I have been just using the factory 155 ballistic tips and have been super happy with the results. The devistation on animals is unreal

take a look at the 100 TSX as well, good bullet to shoot at WBY speeds. That is what I will take to Africa with me.

I had moderate success with three different powders. Ramshot Magnum, H1000, and R25. From what I have read, IMR 7828SSc is good stuff as well.

H1000 is what i loaded in my rifle, and the 110 NAB, 100 TSX, and 115 VLD all shot well with it. I would give you numbers, but I can not remember off of the top of my head but I am pretty sure it was in the 70's. If you want, shoot me an email as I think I have the load data from Berger on my laptop, and I know I have the load data from Barnes on there.

PS, with the Bergers, my gun did not like them jammed into the lands, but a little bit off. Again, I dont remeber the exact COAL off of the top of my head.

i loaded some rounds for a friend, and his Weatherby liked the H4350 powder with 110 NAB.
