Archery OTC Future?

Out of state dudes should have to draw a unit specific tag, so they can’t float from unit to unit.  Also, I think 90% of the out of state guys hunt 23 until it’s closed.  It’s crazy how many out of state guys I see up here.  
 

I don’t see anything wrong with the current system.  Maybe back off the rifle tags and lower the quota until a unit recovers.  Mule deer are boom and bust like lemmings.  
 

For every spike that’s killed by the road, a giant 4x4 gets to pass on his genes.  
 

I guess I’m not against killing spikes, because a guy has to start somewhere.  When you’re a kid, it’s hard to get 40 yards from a mature buck.  
 

Coyotes kill more deer than all of us combined.  How many of you are killing predators?

Here is another issue…..I check the quotas daily just to see how everything is adding up.   I have seen several units that are closed for for a couple weeks that will have another deer reported to the quota!

 

Are people not paying attention to the closures?   Are people forgetting to report?   Is AZGFD paying attention to this and asking questions?

Yeah 200” are common in the otc units early rifle seasons.

Rifle draw bucks, your correct. Randy Ulmer is the only over the counter hunter I know with many bucks over 200"

found this one just laying on the ground where anyone could have killed him, in a overhunted, easy access spot.  it was likely a lion kill.  I do see 190 plus regularly, but I have no bowhunting skills so I just shoot the first meat buck that gives me a clear shot, in most cases.  

I will not guide for money.  If I take someone out, it is always for free.  Mostly I just help kids.

maybe you misread what I wrote. I said the early rifle hunts suck. Everyone finds giants finds giants on the archery
