zslayer Report post Posted Monday at 03:07 AM I personally do not think point restrictions will work. I think the only thing that can be done is draw across the board unfortunately. Social media and the utube influencers have destroyed the OTC deer hunting in Arizona that we loved so much. Another issue with the quota system is it drives all the hunters to the southern units come January because that’s the only units open. The long term data suggests spikes or forks won't be shot, it's just the 2 and 3 year old 3 pts and 100" 4 pts or whatever the "law" states. Lots of studies out there. Is that what people are wanting to extend their season by a week maybe to still shoot dinks? I'd rather a draw, folks can shoot what they want, less people in the field and age class will still increase with less hunting pressure and tags so I can outhunt people moreso than now with less hunters in field... 2 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

zslayer Report post Posted Monday at 03:29 AM Point restrictions would indeed keep the seasons open longer and lower success rates but what would the long term effects look like when you have a big 2x2 genetic and those bucks breeding does every year and they can not legally be shot? I even have a mature set of spike with eye guards sheds from Yarnell years ago. Still one of my favorite set of sheds but absolutely horrible genetics.
