Gr8 White Jr Report post Posted March 8, 2009 I called this fox in today on the 2nd stand of the day. He came in at about the 5 minute mark and I shot him at 170 yards across the canyon I was calling in. He never knew what hit him! -Tracy

CouesWhitetail Report post Posted March 8, 2009 I like when you guys include all those details like how fast he came in, number of stands, where he came from, etc. Neat info. What kind of caller where you using? What sounds? Amanda
Gr8 White Jr Report post Posted March 8, 2009 I like when you guys include all those details like how fast he came in, number of stands, where he came from, etc. Neat info. What kind of caller where you using? What sounds? Amanda I was using a Fox Pro caller with the jack rabbit distress sound. I have never been a fan of electronic calls untill lately. I have been predator calling for years and have allways used mouth calls only untill a couple of months ago. Most of the time when I go predator calling I am by myself and I started wondering how many animals I have probably called in but never saw. When you are by yourself it is impossible to watch 360 degrees around you so there is a good chance that something could come in, see you and then split with out you ever knowing it. With an electronic call and a remote you can eliminate a big part of that by taking the focus of the predator away from you. The canyon that I called this fox in would have been very difficult to call with a mouth call because it was very brushy and steep. If I would have used a mouth call I wouldn't have been able to see anything coming in untill it was already in my lap, and by that time it may have been too late. I set the fox pro up on the side of the canyon and then hiked down in and up the other side. I could now see the entire opposite side of the canyon and would not have to worry about anything seeing me as it comes in. I was able to watch this fox for about 5 to 10 minutes as he circled wide around the caller before I shot him. Had I been sitting right were the caller was and using a mouth call, I probably would have never saw the fox. Its also alot less nerve racking to to call in lion country by yourself when you can set the caller up away from you. -Tracy
