Viper Report post Posted December 30, 2024 2 hours ago, Nickp3d said: Dont Get discouraged, I think most people are not reading the Wyoming part in the title and thinking of Arizona antelope... completely different ballgame. A guy I work for started letting me manage his property last year. He has 6,000+ acres right out of Casper. Unit 25. If you want we would let you pay a trespass fee to hunt on it. You will draw that tag with 3 points, and we killed 3 above average goats opening day. PM me if you are interested. Antelope everywhere and nobody else hunts it. This is one of the bucks from last year How much is the trespass fee? I have 7 points and 5 muley points. Hoping to go in the next couple years. Trying to figure out how the system works.

Trying to figure out how the system works. I thought I was the only one sitting on points Viper. It seems every year something else comes up. I have nine and eight respectively and have never been north of Denver. Maybe this is the year I should go. Paying a tresspass fee might be the way to go for me.

Yeah, I've been buying points with the hope to go someday and draw a decent unit...not holding my breath for a AZ tag. My brother in Indiana is buying points too, so it's a double logistics thing. And it's a long drive. Maybe I'd be better off buying a landowner tag in NM? 🤔

NOTAGS Report post Posted December 31, 2024 I’ve gone to WY twice, both times were pre ONX, and trying to make sure we were on public land on the first was a PIA. Ranchers would follow us around hoping you shot one on their ranch, as GF would hit you with a fine you had to pay to them… the next trip we paid a modest trespass fee to a local rancher who limited hunter numbers for lots of land , and it was waaay less stressful. Worth the money at the time, albeit that was 20+ years ago

knothead Report post Posted December 31, 2024 I'm sitting at 12 antelope, 17 deer and 17 Wyoming elk points. Will probably start using them in the next 2-3 years. Antelope and elk archery only and deer I am undecided.

nateNAU Report post Posted Thursday at 12:23 PM I would suggest looking at the north east units. Most of them take 3 or so points to draw in the regular draw and are guaranteed tags in the special draw. Also you can put the high point tag first choice and the easy one second in the draw and still build points. You are not going to drive around looking over a ton of antelope to choose from but you will definitely have opportunities on multiple bucks. My strategy in those units is look for large sections of land with limited access. If you can find sections that require some good hiking to get into, it will eliminate 95% of the competition. Here is a quick example I found. Hunt area 22, a unit I've never hunted. This big section is over 10 square miles with legal access from only one county road. It's a 2 mile hike just to get into the upper section.
Red Rabbit Report post Posted Thursday at 01:58 PM The GoHunt app should let you see what units you can draw with only 3 points and give unit profiles. wgfd.wyo.gov will do the same. The winter of 2022-23 took a big toll on the deer and antelope in southwest Wyoming. I have 14 points for WY antelope and will see how this winter plays out. It will take a few more mild winters and no droughts for the herds to rebuild.
