bigorange Report post Posted December 23, 2024 Looking at RF binos, hoping to stay below $1000…looking for recommendations on what you’re using. Looking mainly at Sig and Vortex options, but I guess there are some others out there too. Hoping to find some real-world experience with how glass compares to similar non-RF. CatfishKev Report post Posted December 23, 2024 There was a thread a while back about rangefinders electronics only lasting for so many years which made me kind of wonder about the electronics that they use in the range finding binos. So warranty to me would be kind of important deal on those. And the other thread recently about range finders having the option to drop an On-X pin sounds pretty awesome I know The Sig3K and up offer that feature but if they offer it to for rain finding binoculars that would probably be the brand I'd roll with
Flashgun Report post Posted December 23, 2024 i really like my sig rf binos. They are hard to beat for the price. Ironically they just got shipped in because a buddy dropped them on a sheep hunt. Otherwise they have been awesome!

I thought the demo I showed it basically just dropped the range into the app for you nothing more as far as direction or location you still had to do manually…OnX already has the compass function where you can put in a distance from your rangefinder manually to mark a point. I used that on my last hunt and worked pretty well to get me within about 10 ft of the location I had ranged.

I’ve looked at the Kilo models and noticed that CameraLand has a nice sale on the Canyon through the end of the year.

I'm probably gonna get a sign 3k. but i have done the compass thing. There is definitely more of a margin of error but will get the job done.

They are a few years old and don’t have the onx pin option. When I called in for a warranty claim they asked if I would be interested in upgrading for a nominal price option to any new model. I am awaiting the call but will probably upgrade to get that option. Otherwise they would fix them for free and give me mine back
JiminAZ Report post Posted December 24, 2024 Might be out of your price range but Revic/Gunwerks is offering $1000 off the BLR10b model through year end, which I already own and am very impressed with. Ballistics built in. I had Leica Geovid for 20+ years prior to that and they never gave me any trouble and we used them hard. Just outgrew their range (~600 yd) as a shooter and had to upgrade. The Revic is not Alpha glass but is noticeably better than Vortex, and suited for its purpose. I still carry Swarovski 12x for tripod glassing.
old_fashioned Report post Posted December 26, 2024 Do you need ballistic solutions or mainly interested in the rangefinding? I recently sold my Leica Geovid HD-B 2200s in 10x42 and got the GPO Rangeguide in 8x32. I found I wasn't really using the ballistic solver in the Leicas. I prefer a separate ballistic solver app. While I have zero complaints about them, they are great binos obviously, I just thought I could "downsize" without giving up much of what I actually needed them for and free up those funds for other priorities. I'm happy with the glass and image quality in the Rangeguides. My only quibble is with the eyecups; I do not wear glasses so I twist the eyecups all the way out. They want to collapse a bit, so I just put some rubber bands around them to provide more resistance and that works fine. They're also about 10 oz less to carry. Also part of why I switched. I find it calculates ranges extremely quickly.

zenoida771 Report post Posted December 29, 2024 I’ve been having a look at the Sig Kilo models as well. At the price they seem like a good choice. From what I can tell, that’s a pretty good piece of kit for the money, but with the latest models you can get OnX integrated if you’re into that feature. The glass quality is the most important thing for me, and I’ve heard good things about the glass of both Sig and Vortex in this price range. But all this is about what you really need Burk things—rangefind or ballistics (and vice versa). That being said, I don’t think you can go wrong with the Kilo series, either way.
