Old rem 700

Recommended Posts

I purchased a rem 700 didn’t pay any attention to the serial number after getting a home I noticed it’s four digit barrel stamped CJ and serial number is 1300s bolt is engraved same serial number. What do I have? Is it a collectors piece?

Google up Remington 700 barrel codes and it will give you a production date. Couldn't tell you anything after that.

You might have something if it's in good/excellent condition and includes the original butt plate.  I believe it should have the stock with the pressed fleur de lis checkering.  Sporter or Heavy barrel?  What is the chambering?

When I finally got to looking into what I had with my grandpa's Rem 1100, I called Remington's customer service and they ran the serial number for me.  I don't know if that's an option anymore, but something to look at.  Other avenues mentioned above are great, too.

Turns out my grandpa's 1100 was 1964 and among the very first runs of 1100s Remington ever made.

It’s not in the original stock and plate is gone. Sporter contour chambered in .270win

Not in original configuration = Not a collectors piece.
