Hello all. Looking to see if anyone has an experience with this powder. I am looking for a starting charge for my 7 rem mag. I'm pushing a 131 hammer hunter out of a 26" van horn barrel with H1000 right now and it is shooting well,but I picked up a pound of 565 and I'm wanting to try it and I can't find anything on it. I'm using N560 in my 7mm mag and it's heads above H1000 in accuracy and velocity. Never tried it with anything lighter than 168g. bullets. Sierra lists N560 73 grains maximum with 130 grain bullets. N565 is slower so you should be able to use the same load data. I'd start at 70 grains and increase by .5 grain till you get to 73 grains. Use a chronograph and monitor head diameter as you go. Trying to guess maximum load by bolt lift or how flat primers are is not a good idea. Monitor head diameter.

What kind of velocity increases do you see and accuracy? Thanks for the input.

I'm getting 60-70 fps over my old H1000 load with lower extreme spreads. I've never used anything lighter than the 168 grain bullets so your use with 130 grain class bullets is quite different. What works in my rifle may not work in yours. So test and test well. Use your current load as a base line and try to improve on that. I'd recommend magnum primers if you're not using now.

I'll take a look at other bullet manufacturers and see what is close. I'm already shooting magnum primers. I'm aware that your load data will not work in my rifel as mine won't work for yours. Just looking for a starting point from a safety aspect. N560 is close to N565 but there is little to no data for a lighter bullet out of a 7 rem.

Butch, are you shooting the 180's with this powder? I've got a decent load with h1000, but I'm always tinkering...I'm thinking if I come across some, I might give it a try. I'd love to get some more velocity out of it if I could.

My experience with N 565. It didn't give me anymore velocity over h 1000, they were  very close but it was very accurate at 400 plus yards.

Im shooting Berger 180gr hybrid targets with H1000 @68.5gr 3020 fps and Peterson-long brass with 215m primers.

I’ve been shooting vitahvouri for a few years now pretty much exclusively.  The decoppering agents they put in there must work as I feel like I get way less fouling with it.   Seems to be right in there with others in my Sherman’s as far as velocity with the exception of RL 26 which is impossible to find so as far as I’m concerned doesn’t exist. I have had really good luck finding Vihtavouri powders at scheels so that’s the main reason I’ve moved over to it and have good supplies of 560,565,568 and 570 and use all of them.  ES’s seem really well and temp stability seems pretty good in all of them.

You've got a fast barrel... or I have a slow one! I shoot the hybrids with 69 grains h1000 and don't even hit 2900.

Kurt I don't know about N565 but N560 is what I got great results with. We're sort of high jacking the original post here. If you need more info PM me. I think you have my number?
