az.antlerenthusiast Report post Posted March 3, 2009 This is a picture of my buddy dustin (Azantlerhead) preping his pack for the walk out to the truck . The truck was only mabe 2 miles away, but 1000 feet higher in elevation. During this trip we found very nice coues,m deer, elk sheds and a nice m deer head. Dustin found a 6X7 set of elk horns prob. in the 370 range. Between the 2 of us, with rack and tack we packed out about 170 pounds which for where we were was not easy. TJ If it were only that easy TJ No I remember that trip well, We really allmost over did it. As I recall by the MAP, Jason , It was the steepest climb( 1500 vert ft in only an 1/8 mile horz. distance) , took three hours to climb out, the short cut as I told Jason Whoops , We did make it out before dark though. I dropped a chewed up 120 class coues shed and it rolled down the hill, I didn't go after it, the same happened with your water bottle right Jason? It was a doozy for sure! wasn't that late nov 07? Yup, that's Ol' boy in the pic. He's retired now. Jasons shepard Suki also made that trip, she was in heat and made for some humourus jokes over the weekend. Now, with the pleasantries out of the way, I could use mas pictures and mas story. I understand that a shed honey hole is sacred and that if I am ever so rude as to ask “Where’d you find that shed?” I fully expect you to reply “On the ground.” But is it too much to ask for you to post a bit more info about the trip and post some more pics? (AZantlerhead may have told you, we are very demanding.) Were any of the sheds fresh drops? (It looks like some might have been.) Did you see any bulls still packing one or both sides? Will you please PM the GPS coordinates of your shed honey hole? [Kidding, of course. Finding them yourself (or randomly stumbling upon them in my case) is 90% of the fun!] Anyway, great job on the shed hunt and I'm looking forward to many more posts from you and AZantlerhead. If you apply that to shed hunting persistantly, you will find more than you ever bargained for. Keep it up man. And never get discouraged, theres many days when you find one or none. As azantler enthusiast and grong will surely back me up on that. Just like it took me 7 years of hunting to get my first deer, That hit and miss experience helped me get a trophy 2nd buck last year. And the 8 antlers I found the first year helped me hit 50 the next and so on. Attitude is everything. Keep it up. You'll prosper in all you do.
