ChasinTail Report post Posted March 3, 2009 Clay, thanks for the welcome. Much appreciated. I'll be posting again soon with the story of another bruiser that we caught 2 weeks ago. It was intense! Nothing like bluffing up a big 'ol tom and staring him right in the face! Gives me the chills, just thinking about it! Cheers, Tyler
WFGinNM Report post Posted March 3, 2009 Welcome to the site Tyler. What is the breeding of your Leopard dog? Thanks for sharing the story, --Bill
CouesWhitetail Report post Posted March 3, 2009 Great story! You have got some real passion in that story and love all the details about the dogs. Welcome to the site. Amanda
ChasinTail Report post Posted March 3, 2009 Bill, I'm not exactly sure what her breeding is. She came from one of the best lion hunters I know of though. She's super athletic and can keep pace with a mature lion in some of the rockiest terrain imaginable. She's able to get herself into places that other dogs won't even dare go. She can jump from rock to rock and is very intelligent. She knows just how far and how fast she can push a lion, and her endurance is remarkable. The best part about it is she's only 5 years old! We have made countless memories with her and have many, many more hunting memories to go!
WFGinNM Report post Posted March 3, 2009 I really like the Leopards, I used to hunt Camus Curs which are 1/2 leopard. Real good dogs and handle like a dog should, they hunt for you, not themselves. Attached is a pic of my 10 month old dog Boone. I got him from Randy Oller in Northern CA. Take care, --Bill
ChasinTail Report post Posted March 3, 2009 I'm in the process of getting pictures of all of our dogs up, but this is one that has Goose in it. Not a great picture, but you get the idea. The girl in the pic is my cousin's 7 year old daughter. She goes with us quite a bit. The guy is my cousin's brother-in-law. Goose is on the left, and Siren is on the right. If you've ever seen the movie El Gato, you may recognize Goose, she has her 10 seconds of fame eating on a dead calf that was killed by a lion... cheers, Tyler

Mr. Jonathan Report post Posted March 4, 2009 Awesome story and welcome! Can you share any live photos from the hunt?
ChasinTail Report post Posted March 4, 2009 Sure. Here's one of him where we found him. Something interesting about this lion was the big scar across his nose. We originally thought it might have been another lion that did it, but upon further inspection, it actually looks like it may have been a deer antler that ripped through his nostril. The taxidermist that we took him too said he's seen it before. There was also a hole in the side of his lip that looked like it might have been another tine that punctured through. Who knows... COUESAZ Report post Posted March 4, 2009 Hey Chasin tail welcome to the site. I was good friends growing up with Jason, Donnies brother. I grew up in Saint David. Just up the river. Tell donnie howdy from the Goodman boy's (Jade and Mark) I am sure I know who you got the dog from And you are right he does have what i would call some of the best alive. hunter4life Report post Posted March 4, 2009 Congrats on the dry ground lion! I went out with my brother last week hunting the dirt and we rode about a 14 mile loop on the horse and mule and didn't get anything started. The conditions were not very good, dry and windy, but it beats sitting at home or at work.
