5nRamirez Report post Posted December 1 Just wondering what some of your guys thoughts are on the 2 brands of scopes mentioned. I'm putting together a 300prc and am trying to decide on an optic. Looking at the steinerHX6i 3-18x50 vs the leupold VX6hd 4-24x50 has anybody compared these two scopes??

It's about which one is going to take the most hammering and which is going to get back in your hands quicker when it fails. Nightforce will take the most beating with a heavy recoil caliber and has the best resale value than the two scopes you suggest. If that build is a light gun, yes even more recoil. I'm always surprised that shooters don't consider recoil more often when buying a scope. I wouldn't want the scope quitting on me in the middle of a hunt.

There's no way I'd put a 30 oz scope on it. It's has a VX6 on it. I've never had a Leupold fail me. Just lucky I guess.
L Cazador Report post Posted December 4 The difference between a Leupold VX6 and a Nightforce NXS is 8 ounces. Carrying another 8 ounces isn't going to break my back. Yes you're lucky or you just haven't shot enough ammo to have the scope fail. With a light 300 Weatherby like that I'm sure you aren't burning up that barrel, 🤣! Leupold is a great scope but not the scope a Nightforce is.

Leupold is a great scope but not the scope a Nightforce is. It's 10 oz but who's counting. Well, I guess I am. Ive shot hundreds of rounds through it. And far more than that through my STW with a VX6 and it has a much sharper recoil than the 300. I've never had a Leupold fail. I've shot 10's of thousands of rounds through various Leupolds without any failures yet so I'm not too worried about it. And no, I don't burn my barrels up. I guess you could say about any scope you haven't shot enough for it to fail yet. I was talking to a person who tests smokeless muzzleloaders about a build and he warned me about scope selection. He said a 300 gr bullet at over 3000 fps really stresses a scope. He said to make sure I put a Leupold or NF on it. I own an NXS and I by far prefer my Leupolds. There no way I'm putting a NF on a Rifles Inc Strata. I didn't buy a light weight rifle just to weigh it down. To each his own.
yotebuster Report post Posted December 5 I’ve had two VX6’s that wouldn’t return to zero. I won’t own another. Euro optic had 3-18 Schmidt and Bender metas on sale then other day for $1999. Best scope on the market and a competitive price to the others. Of the two you listed I’d go Steiner in a heartbeat.
