Just cuz I don’t agree with something doesn’t mean I wanna take opportunities away from others , that is some people’s livelihood and just cuz I don’t agree with it doesn’t mean I personally would wanna take it from them , if other people do then that’s on them??  I just don’t see what rush you could get out of a bunch of dogs scaring a cat or bear into a tree and then you hiking up there to shoot it? What sense of accomplishment could that give you? That’s like tying up a deer and then walking up and shooting it, what’s the difference

Gaslighting 1000%. Hoping it passes is you in support of taking away peoples livelihood away and opportunities away from people. I would also venture to say you probably have never been on a pursuit/hunt with dogs. Trailing a pack of good working dogs is watching natural art unfold. The shot of a treed animal is 1% of the hunt with dogs. There’s so much more to it. I’d suggest you try something and do it before you speak on something you have no knowledge of besides what you assume the hunt is. Regardless I hope all hunters can support this petition not passing as the last thing hunters need is more opportunities and rights being stripped from them because its something the uneducated public doesn’t support or know anything about. If you truly like hunting coues, mule deer, sheep, antelope, and elk id support the houndsmen as they make a big difference taking the lions and predators they do.

I used to think there was no sport in it until I saw firsthand the amount of work that lion hunters put in with there dogs.  It takes a lot of training and endless miles.

I hope it passes , I think using a dog and walking up on a treed animal and shooting it 10-40 yards away is a complete joke 👍

You are a complete joke.  You couldn’t catch a lion in a zoo.  You have no idea how difficult hound hunting is.  It takes years to train  a successful dog. Most hunts are failures, and are extremely difficult.

While I respect your opinion I steadfastly disagree. Hounds have been bred for thousands of years to do just that. Predator control is just one minuit aspect of it.  AZ needs to bring back trapping on public lands.

Sure it serves a purpose but the shooter needs to cover a lot of ground. Killing isn't pretty and is just one aspect of these hunts. People participate in them for a lot of personal reasons. Not every treed animal is killed each time.

Don’t get your parties in a wad, I never said it wasn’t hard to train a dog, or they don’t work hard, I am saying it is a complete joke for a HUNTER to walk up and shoot an animal that’s scared for its life 20 yards away while 10 dogs have it in a tree, and your right I couldn’t catch a lion in a Zoo and I’d never try catching a lion or bear in any scenario , there’s soo many people that buy those hunts , walk over there where the animals are treed and shoot it just to take a picture and ACT like they did something, I know of a few people that do it, and they have admitted that’s exactly how the hunt went , that’s why I have such a strong opinion on it

I’m sure it’s not , as I stated before the actual killing of the animal after the dogs do the work is a joke? That’s just my opinion, everyone is entitled to their own tho

Hound hunting allows for careful selection to determine absolute maturity and sex of an animal before you harvest it. The guide my son works for a treed 24 lions last year, and they only killed two. And one of those was a depredation hunt for Game And Fish.  There is no other way to harvest with such accuracy.  And it’s one of the toughest ways to hunt there is.

I mean.... They treed 24?  Doesn't sound like it's to hard to tree a lion with dogs.  I spend more time than most people in the field and I have seen less than 10 lions.  I have followed dogs a couple times.  The hiking is tough and you will NOT keep up with the hounds.  I am not in favor of getting rid of hounds but lets not lie and say it's a hard hunt...  It is a hard hike, the dogs do all the hunting.  I'm not a guy that would hunt behind dogs, but I do not fault someone who would.  To each, their own.
