4X12?

On a serious note I use all Leupold mark5 3-18.

that is about double your budget.

honestly within your budget a vortex viper 2 would be fine some of the lower leupolds vx5 for example or possibly a used tango 6? I have had really bad luck in the military and with my dept with trijicon not holding zero.

I have heard good things about arken but have never seen or used one.

For a cheap value for the dollar scope that seems to perform well on most YouTube videos I checked out look the Arken line.  Got one on the kids rifle and has not left us down.  $400 range

Its a heavy setup, but it helps with recoil. Nighforce NSX 5.5-22X56 MORT.

The Sightron SIII 6-24X50 is a good compromise on weight and hey fit within your budget.   You can usually find a used one for around $650-$700.

I’ve been using a Leupold VX-3i 4.5-14x40 for coues hunting, and it’s worked pretty well for me without costing a ton. If you’re near Burnsville, there’s a Burnsville MN gun store where I’ve checked out some scopes before. It’s nice to actually see ’em in person and mess around with the settings before buying. Makes it easier to figure out what feels right.
