jdown Report post Posted November 6 Rascal all day! Larger controls, true safety and adjustable trigger = Easier and Safer. Plus they shoot lights out and make a great dispatch gun if needed or when the kids grow out of it. 1

Calebwalter Report post Posted November 6 I bought my daughter the Savage Rascal Target Model for her 8th birthday and she loves it. When I zero’d it at the range before giving it to her all the guys were talking about how good the trigger and action felt for a $280 youth rifle. Comes with a cheap bipod and a cheap 4x scope. Shooting federal gold medal target it shoots sub moa at 50 yards
The Guy Report post Posted November 6 I got my son the rascal with the blue laminate stock and man that thing is deadly, I think they are on sale for 180 right now . but yea I love it myself , its very fun to shoot and it has a threaded barrel. the cricket from what I been told gets the kids use to pulling that plunger back . I talked with a few parents that once there kids moved up to a bigger rifle they were trying to pull that back part of the bolt back. nothing to crazy but just something to keep in mind .
codyhuntsaz Report post Posted November 6 Sorry for the sideways pic…..went with a Savage for my 6 yo daughter. Thing shoots lights out, I can put 5 shots into a Raquet ball at 100 yards.
Big Tub Report post Posted November 6 I prefer the savage also ... note there is Henry Rifle one to consider, also. I would love to get a stock extension for my savage so I could sight it in and use it after grandkids lose interest. I also got the wood stock for future mod capability.

shiloh1874 Report post Posted November 6 Bought my son the Rogue Chipmunk in 2002 when he was six. Came with a peep sight that he learned on and was lethal with it. I couldn't even come close guessing how bullets are down the barrel of that gun. He now has a son and would not forfeit that chipmunk when I asked if he wanted to give his to his son or wanted me to by him his own. I bought a new Chipmunk identical to my sons, for my grandson. 22 years apart. Chipmunk is now made by Keystone sporting arms. HOURS of fun and memories. Any choice will work as long as you are teaching and enjoying family time outdoors.
