The Limbhanger Report post Posted November 5 Hello, and I know this is a lot to ask, but I’m coming out from Oklahoma to archery hunt Coues in January and just trying to see if someone could please message me and point me to some good spots to try and get my coues or javelina. I'm not looking for a guide as I’m a DIY traditional archery guy and will be taking my longbow and probably a compound as a backup. I lost my pops back in June and am going after one of each of as many of the species in North America in his name. Coues is next on my list. I’m not looking for a monster, just a good opportunity at a buck. I was thinking about hunting down around Arivaca since it’s in 36. I have a tag for javelina in the 36 units, so any info there would be a blessing too. Just being out there will be a blessing. God bless!
CouesFanatic Report post Posted November 5 Did you get a tag this morning? The non-res tags are sold out.
Ed67 Report post Posted November 5 I’ve hunted the 36 units for years and killed a bunch of bucks. Nothing big but had a lot of fun. Going to 36A late this year. I can’t give out specifics but take a look at the AZGFD location recommendations. They are spot on. If you see a set of hills or mountains in A,B or C there are deer on and around them. Good luck

sneakem33 Report post Posted November 5 Also... Javelina tags are mostly draw tags, and are restricted to certain units. Hopefully you have a 36 javelina tag if your planning to hunt them there.

spectrum Report post Posted November 6 Hey man I'll help you, ignore the rude people that state they hope no one helps you. I've hunted here 42 years and guided at one point before wife at that time put the kibosh on it. I just hunted New Mexico for mule deer and the wildlife manager helped me out, I shot the biggest mule deer in all my years of hunting, have shot dozens of Coues along with my daughter in AZ. I could not scout in New Mexico becuse of a special needs dependant I care for, its hard enough just to get away to hunt. No one knows your circumstance and why you cannot come out to scout. Maybe we could do some trading, I'd love to hunt Oklahoma, but i like you dont have the luxury like some to drive to another state to scout. Send me a PM and if you have help, good luck and God bless.
