Recommended Posts

From what boats I have seen and people I have heard from Carlos is rockin with crappie right now. Get the kids out this is the time to get them addicted to the outdoors. I will be heading out on Saturday with my 11 year old girl to see if she can catch more than me. ;)

Can you do well from the shore or do you have to have a boat?

Good question. From what I have heard they are in different depts so I would think the bank would be okay. They are doing awesome trolling with BBC or JD jigs, small cranks, or even minnows but everyone is saying you will run out of minnows in minutes. Everyone I have heard from is sayin they are catching anywhere from 100 to 200 in a 4 to 5 hour period. Best place to put in is at soda if you have a boat. Good luck everyone. If you see me out there I will be wearing a Coueswhitetail shirt stop by and say hi. :D

I usually get minnows in the Valley or at Kilmer's (have to head toward Roosevelt and then backtrack though).

Went up with Family over the weekend. Fished from 10:30am until 4pm and caught 60 plus trolling John Deere Green and Blue/Black/Chartreuse grubs on a 1/16th oz. jighead. did not seem to matter if you tipped it with a minnow or not.

you can get to some good spots on the south side of the lake to fish from shore but I am not familiar with all the different roads on that side of the lake. Just head toward the water close to where you see all the boats ;) . The fishing should be good from shore. When I fish from shore I would just use a minnow under a slip bobber.

Good luck to those that get out there

If your in Tucson , Jesse at Saguaro Tackle and Archery should have a healthy supply of minnows tomorrow afternoon. I heard this past weekend if you had long legs you could walk on water!!!! :o :o :o from boat to boat that is.   Should be anyday now that they will move closer to shore. Have fun and great fishing.

We have a place up there on the hill. Went up this weekend and killed the crappie. Right now it seems it would be better to catch from boat. They seem to be a little deeper in the 15-20 ft of water. We were fishing about 9ft with minnows. There is a bait shop going toward roosevelt that has minnows for about 2.50 a dozen. when it gets warmer they should move where you might be able to catch them from shore. Here is a few pictures but it only shows about half the fish we caught. On sunday with 3 people on the boat we brought in about 70 and threw back at LEAST 30. Great weekend with the boys!!!! Also on sunday I took a fairly close count of boats on water and at one point counted a 109 boats in seeing range. One of the pictures if you zoom in will give a idea of how many boats there was on the waterpost-1878-1235537813_thumb.jpgpost-1878-1235537839_thumb.jpgpost-1878-1235537877_thumb.jpgpost-1878-1235537960_thumb.jpg
