Who uses a bipod?

Recommended Posts

What’s the consensus on rifle bipods?  I’m currently planning on shooting off my pack, which is how I’ve been practicing, but was wondering if the majority of you use something else.

I ues a harris bi-pod. The tall one and sure has been useful. It's amazing how handy it is for setting your gun down whie glassing too. The trade off is, it definitely makes your gun a bit front heavy when shooting off-hand, but it didn't take long to get adjusted to it.

I agree.  I’ve spent well over $1000 on high end bipods and I still keep coming back to the Harris S25.  In the short mode it’s perfect height for me prone.  It’s the only one that when extended is perfect height for me to shoot sitting down.  Faster then any other bipod out there to deploy, and if you actually sit down and compare the specs, they’re lighter then the other ones that are comparable lengths.   Best of all they’re 1/3-1/4 the cost of the “high end” bipods.

Harris, 25, swivel model is my first choice.

Shooting from the tripod with a Triclawps style rest is second.

I always like a bipod to keep my rifle out of the dirt when i set it down for whatever reason. There isnt always a good place/tree to lean it up against

I have used a Harris 1A2-H bipod the most and it has done great, just no tilt/pan feature

Recently got a Atlas to try and have been underwhelmed forsure. Harris certainly feels more steady but mine doesnt have the adjustablity of the Atlas. I will Have to check out the S-25 for myself

You have better make sure that you have a rifle stock that is rigid enough to handle the force of leaning into your rifle when shooting.  I missed the biggest buck of my life in Mexico because of a bipod. It ended up pushing the fore stock into the barrel which caused the rifle to be off.  I didn't learn what happened until I got back to the home and took it out shooting. It never even crossed my mind that could be an issue.  So I will stick to my pack or shooting sticks. But I do have a Harris 25S that is pretty nice.

I don’t like them. I like shooting off a tripod optimally. Then off a bag.

i think laying down shooting sucks, it’s either uncomfortable or there’s grass in the way.

New gunwerks elevate 2.0 is pretty badass.  I recommend atleast giving it a chance.  So far it's my favorite.
