trphyhntr Report post Posted September 25, 2024 Months ago When that dude made the thread about deer hunting there, saying he was gonna have the same special access as sheep hunters. I called cabeza to verify that, and they said no and that sheep hunters don’t have special access. I thought the dude was just ignorant but I guess after reading this it checks out. trphyhntr Report post Posted September 26, 2024 you’ll be good. You can hike to temporal if you really want to get in there. That’s where they killed the 179 or whatever it was in 2019. Packing in enough water would be the hard part Get the range road 1 permit and put me on it and let’s hunt north growlers backpacking I want to check chico shunie hills, I don’t think anyone ever has. Couesnut Report post Posted November 28, 2024 Keep us informed, love the place but I haven't been into it for a few years now. I believe Rd access is up to the refuse manager. (as long as its Not in the wilderness) Back in the 90s , the rd. heading S. of Charlie Bell to the Bates rd. past Chico Shuney was open. Haveing the rd. available "helped" with access to the South part of the Growlers. But it was certainly Not a cakewalk..
Riley Report post Posted November 28, 2024 It was not open last year. The refugee manager would not give a reason why. We killed our Ram with a 70-year-old, 8 1/2 miles one way from the road in the growlers. Now that it’s combined with West, there is fantastic country to hunt. I wouldn’t waste more than a second on Childs.

ajohunter Report post Posted December 22, 2024 Day 22, the hunt continues. Hot dry conditions. 2 missed opportunities, one stalk on a ram that turned out to be too small. Mountain lion I couldn’t get close enough to for a shot and a miss on a ram yesterday the 21’st. Will advise further. 1
