firstcoueswas80 Report post Posted September 13 My cousin has owned this truck since new, 1994. She has garage kept it, and rarely used it. I have wanted it for 25 years. Last time when I asked her about it, she said yes! So, I bought a dog box for the pup, and she brought it down. Doing some work, mainly maintenence but either way I am super pumped to have it. My son will get it when he is 16. Pretty sweet truck, 1994 V6, 5 speed 4x4 toyota with only 123k on it! 20

CouesPursuit Report post Posted September 13 Simply a gem. Your son is fortunate beyond words to put some sweat and memories into an old vehicle before it becomes his own. Good job, Dad.
catclaw Report post Posted September 14 I tried to buy a new one in 2017. Couldn't find what I wanted. I ordered a new one. She it came in it was the wrong color and had a moon roof! The dealer told me I had to take it. They said Toyota knows what I want better than I do. I walked back to the comptroller and told her to give me my deposit back. She did. Only way I would own a Toyota is to get one like Casey did. Great little truck Casey

firstcoueswas80 Report post Posted September 14 New Bilsteins were supposed to come in during the week. Looks like both sets are due in today! So, tomorrow I'll be working on them before dropping it off Wednesday for a front end rebuild.
Non-Typical Solutions Report post Posted September 15 You will enjoy that truck so much, I am trying to get my 4runner up and running again! I have a JDM engine headed my way!!! Where have you been buying parts?
Explorer Report post Posted September 15 Every new truck/ car these days is keyless ignition. Can't deal with new electronic junk. When your offroading the old school rules! Nice truck. Bilstein is the only way to go. They make the foam cell shocks which are more expensive but worth the money.

Accessories from Amazon.
PRDATR Report post Posted September 15 Bilsteins are great. I put them on my F250 at about 80K and replaced them at 200K with FOX 2.0 and they were still plenty stiff and did not leak.
firstcoueswas80 Report post Posted September 15 I'll admit I was a little apprehensive about putting bilsteins on this thing. I have them on my dodge, the second set. The first set was fantastic rode nice and smooth but we're also sturdy enough to tow. This second set must be pretty stiff because the dang truck rides like a ton of bricks off road. PRDATR Report post Posted September 15 Drop the tire pressure. I know it's a PIA but it will make a big difference especially if you put couple a hundred pounds in the bed. I drove a 78 Sierra 2500 for 13 years. I only put about 2500 miles a year on it as it was my hunting rig. Biggest issue with smaller trucks is space to store stuff like a portable air compressor. Bilstens can take a beating but shocks like Monroe will give a smoother ride and absorb the smaller bumps transferring less to the springs. After I bought it (with 144K on the clock) I put a 4" lift in it and added three leafs to the rear. It rode a bit rough so I pulled the after market steel bumper off the rear and poured it with concrete and welded angle iron to keep it in place after it setup. That helped a lot.
