Adicted Report post Posted September 24 Well im frustrated. Here we go. head to another area and show up and soon as i open door about 4 elk were bugling. Was still very early another 45 min till light. We chill for a bit the 20 min before light we load up. Elk still talking but u can tell they gonna head to this big hill to bed. So we get in between. We focus on this one bull that was closest. We get over right in front of him and set up. Hes coming in. U can barely see now and my son says he can see his pins. Another bugle. Perfect, lets get it on. Bugle and coming right at us. There is a small little decline in front of us and hes right on it. We r in a small open area where hes headed. One more bugle and now buck fever is here cause its going down. Well!!!!! Not another bugle from him and after about 2 min im like wtf!! We head that way and gone.. Long gone. Not another bugle from him or any other elk. They all shut up. Couldnt get on them again. back out andnno where they r going so we jumped in tacoma and drover to the south side of the hill where they will bed on the north side. We head up this hill above 75 ft from top. We slow creep to where they bed and just chill about 30’min. Boom. We see a bull and 3 cows walking slow. We hang out about 30 Min and see what they do. We lose them. Chit!! Well a few of u on here said try some cold calling and get his attention if still there. Well i threw a few soft cow calls and u would think there was an atom bomb that went off. They ran faster than u could believe. Hahahaha. back to drawing board. I have no problem getting on elk every day. Even decent bulls. Just cant seal it. Never been stumped like this. Will try some new chit this pm.

azelkhunter69 Report post Posted September 24 Went up to 6A the last two days to get away from work. Was shocked at the lack of bugles. I think last week might have been the best week, with the cold snap. Back to warm. Heard one half hearted bugle Sunday morning about 9am. After that, it was all before light. Didn't even hear many at night. Weird. That being said, the last couple days are always my favorite. Only die-hards left.

Adicted Report post Posted September 25 Well im selling everything. Man o man. Somthis morning. Get out there and have 2 big bulls bugling. Still dark. We pin point one bull amd head that way. We get 150 Yds and all good. I can tell they r moving though towards bedding area and soon as sun peaks they gone. We get about 80 yds from big 6 (320-330) and he has about 6 cows. I ask my son can u see your pins he says no. Chit!!!! They rip there bugles again. We stay put. Not sure what direction they gonna go. Well they turn away from us not towards us and it was a chase from there. Just pushed them. about hour into it i hear a bugle to the side. We head that way and oeak over ridge and boom there is a bunch of cows. Perfect. We freeze. Bull is somewhere. I tell my son be ready. Cows r 40 yds away and dont known we r there. The bull bugles. Game time. At this point no calling cause i think every time i cow call it says “ Im right fukin here”!!!! Insee the bull 65 yds but of course trees in way. We pick a shooting lane. Cows r feeding. I got all day buddy and my feet hurt so im more than happy waiting. Well 10 min into it bull bugles, still doesnt know we r there and they all run out of there. Not sure what happemed. back at it later 1
Crazymonkey Report post Posted September 25 If they didn't see you they must have winded you guys. Possibly thermals changed and gave you away? They've been getting pressed and are going to move on anything that doesn't seem quite right. Keep after it.
