Recommended Posts

My buddies  are all in 6a and had the same issues.  Elk bugle early  then nothing  till dark. Lots of deer and turkey.  They got it done one  after another  sitting  water . Good luck  and enjoy your time with your family.

I see fires on the rim from 22N.  Are those in 5BS?

The smoke was bad from  about pine up to just about the 147 rd. That was last week Thursday morning  when I was heading back up . I'm sure it depends  on the wind. I did see a nice 6x6 and another  bull feeding on the grass along the road . It was probably  around 5 am when I went  by .

his son may be getting more action on campus than they were in the woods......

He's been scouting the campus for several weeks now. He's bound to tag something there.

Well crap!!!  This is my sons first archery  bull tag and the rush of buck fever hit him hard. Legs were shaking as this bull came crashing in.  Got on 4 bulls going nuts this am.  We were able to pin down one bull on a ridge and he wanted to play. He was a decent 6 (300) and he was pumped up. Few challenge bugles pissed him off and we heard him crashing in. Set up and had a shooting lane. He came in and i cow called and he hit the brakes broadside. 50 yds and he shoots.  Instead of following thru i think he looked at the arrow before it was even shot to see if he hit.  And nada.  Just under. Crap!!!!!!!  Well move on and got on a few more bulls but that was pretty much our morning. 90% of the hunters r leaving and things r better for us. Rut has picked up.

back at it tonight

Man I remember launching an arrow at my first opportunity at a buck.  It was an epic miss but man I was hooked.  Buck fever is real! Good luck tonight can't wait to see how this unfolds.

Not to often u see a biologist in middle of woods on the water tank u plan on sitting.  He walked 10 ft in all sides of tank and then took a net and scooped for micro bugs.  Was interesting.

Here is the hunter sitting in the log and his brother. Just to put faces to story.  We just blew a stalk and were gassed.
