When I had my wallet stolen, I was told they did not share the fraud alerts so I had to call all 3 of them. In this case it sounds like they improved the system. They share everything else, why not share a fraud alert?

A good way to prevent ID theft is to keep your SSN out of your wallet. Both the state and game and fish will give you an alternative ID number for you drivers and hunting license if you ask. Also cut the ssn out of you health insurance card. Just make sure that your ssn in nowhere in you wallet, purse, or vehicle. Also, shred or burn any old documents with your ssn or account numbers. One night, I saw a guy digging through the trash bins at the post office looking in discarded mail for info. A lot of people, myself included, pick up mail at their PO box, and throw stuff out at the post office trash bins.

 

A couple of years ago, I knew a guy who went out to his truck one morning to go quail hunting, and his truck was gone. After, calling the cops, they took his buddy's truck and still went hunting. As they were driving down I10 towards Tucson, they saw his truck parked on the side of the interstate. They stopped, and there was a mexican national (on his way to mexico) sleeping in the cab. They called DPS and had him arrested, but not until they "discussed" the situation with the guy for quite sometime.

Packhorse, sorry about your truck hope you get it back. Been there done that. Had my new superduty stolen about a month after I got it. Got it back in good shape 3 days later with about 800 miles added. It had been to Mexico and back carrying a load of Illegals. The Tolleson police dept. almost caught the guys but they scattered (a bunch of em) on foot and they got away. I was lucky to get it back. Superduty is a bad vehicle to own if you want to keep it, alot of people I know have had theirs ripped at some point. My neighbor, insurance agent, was telling me that one of his insurance investigators went down to Nogales with his laptop, on the Mexican side, and started running VIN numbers on all these nice trucks and cars, he told me almost every single one of them was stolen. Also I would be pretty cautious as to claiming stuff on your homeowners policy, I've been hearing that once you make a claim on it they can and will drop you and you may have a really hard time getting insurance again even from other companies. You might think about reserving your homeowners for a really big disaster. I hate insurance companies !!!

If you are a N.R.A. member I believe they will cover a portion of the hunting equipment, such as knives, binos, and gps. My house was robbed many years ago and they helped out alot. It is a bad feeling when you get robbed. I'll keep an eye open around my area lots of illegals venture around were I work.

I think we've all had our fill of scum-sucking thieves. It ought to be the law to be able to whack someone trying to break into your car. I'd set up sting operations all over...(whack, whack) I too had my superduty stolen last year. I found that you cannot trust anyone. Don't put it past acquaintences, and or friends of friends. Car thieves are good for nothing $#%@. All at the expense of us hardworking honest citizens. I would definitely do something about the stolen wallet and ID. Track it down and find the SOB. There are cameras all over the place where credit cards are used. Catch him and have him put in a cell with BUBBA. There is nearly nothing that will make you feel more violated than to have your vehicle stolen. Get him back and let BUBBA violate the heck out of him. Good luck, and keep us posted on any progress.

I went to the Quick Mart that these theives drove my truck to that morning and tried to steal magazines? and looked at the video tape of the kid entering the store. He is a little punk %ss white kid with his hat on backwards. I have an idea of where this kid came from that morning and am watching the house closely.

All locks are changed and I am anxiously awaiting confrontation! I haven't heard anything more from the authorities, I would imagine they have bigger fish to fry but these punks have to be leaving a trail from trying to use my cards and it is just a matter of time before either they cross paths with the law or myself.

I will try to get a copy of the video tape and take it to Kinkos and make very large pictures of the kid and post them everywhere with a reward.........just a matter of time you little mofo!

When I had my Jeep broken into down in Tucson last year, and all my hunting gear stolen, I claimed it on my home owner's insurance and they paid it promptly and without raising rates. So you might just call your home owner's insurance and ask how they handle that stuff. I use a good, but inexpensive insurance company since I got sick of Allstate's prices and bs.

I had State Farm Insurance for over 25 years. While living in Phx, I made 2 claims on my homeowners. They decided I was "high risk" and was going to cancel on me. The only way out was to raise my deductable.

Then, when I put the house up for sale, I found out the 2 claims stay with the home for 5 years and make it harder for the buyer to get insurance, which in turn makes it harder to see the home.

It is a racket and they have us by the hmm hmms.

I know how you feel on the truck. I got my Dodge stolen two years ago in Phoenix. Went in to Black Angus for dinner and came out to an empty space. It really sucked. I had a two month old pair of 15x56 Swaros, rangefinder, radios, lots of tools in the toolbox and my dayplanner. Which the dayplanner had checkbook and lots of personnal paperwork from workmans comp. That really sucked, because it had all the needed information for identity theft. Name, address, birthdate, social security #, etc.

After months and months watching my credit reports and waiting for it to be found. Nothing. I was told by numerous people that the kind of theft I got was for just the truck. A chop shop or went to Mexico and that the paperwork was most likely tossed.

I had no problems with my homeowners insurance nor with Allstate. I was really pleased with everything. I had even purchased a window etched security number from the dealer for $149, when I bought the truck and got $5000 just for that.

After reading up on all the Dodges, Fords and Chevys being stolen. I thought I would be safe and bought a Toyota. But I guess those aren't safe either now.

My advice if you get your truck back or a new one. Get an good alarm with the cold starting feature. That way you can start your truck to warm-up, but it is still locked. Also get GAP insurance. It may cost around $150, but it is well worth it, if the insurance company doesn't cover your truck all the way.

Another thing which you learned like me. Pay attention to what you keep in the truck. If it is something that you would really miss if it was gone. Don't leave it in the truck. I hope you find the SOB. I still would like the find the ones that stole mine. I wich they would design a device in the seat, that if the truck was stolen. All you had to do was call a number and a rusty piece of rod about 2" in diameter and 12" long would shoot up.

Try using a real steering wheel lock such as the disclok http://www.disklok.com/ which is far superior to the club and protects your air bag from theft too.

I kept an eye while I was out and about today in AZ City, and the expo, but saw nothing, sorry. The hunt continues in the morning, I'll keep an eye out on my way to 22/23

Sorry about the loss. I am constantly worried about my F350 powerstroke 4X4 here in the nice community of Tucson (yeah right!). Fords are the most stolen vehicle in AZ right now. Those damned smugglers can cram a bunch of wets into a crewcab 4X4 and cut a path straight across the desert. I know, I chase em all the time ... (me being a BP Agent). And almost every one of them we catch is stolen out of the Phoenix or Tucson area. Sad state of affairs we live in these days when ya can't even warm your truck up in the morning!

Hope ya get to get your hands on him before the law does! Then justice can be handed out as it was meant to be!

I'll keep my eye out for it when I'm out patrolling in 36A,B, and C.

I have been thinking about replacing my Toyota with a Man Truck and I like the idea of the On-Star Tracking System... Does anybody know if this might deter thiefs???
