stanley Report post Posted February 18, 2005 Unbelievable Brian! Amazing how brazen folks are! I had my truck stolen (also a Toyota 4x4) from my driveway many years ago. What a sick feeling to come out in the morning to find your wheels gone. S.
Red Rabbit Report post Posted February 18, 2005 Brian, I know how you feel. They could be using your truck to haul around my ATV and trailer somewhere in Mexico. A past girlfriend's brother had his new Ford pickup stolen in Bisbee some years ago. He located it - it was being driven by the sheriff of Agua Prieta, Mex. az4life Report post Posted February 18, 2005 That truly does suck! I think if they are caught, you should be able to extract your "pound of flesh...." I hope it was insured Good luck
azpackhorse Report post Posted February 18, 2005 Thanks guys and gals, it is insured. The thing that really sucks is that my wallet, checkbook, and all my keys for the other vehicles, work, and my house were in it. I had ran out to start it like I always do and ran back into the house to get a cup of coffee and let the truck warm up a bit, it was maybe 2 minutes time at the most and it vanished. The cops chased the guy in Tucson (Fairveiw & Roger rd) but had to call the chase off do to unsafe road conditions. This guy had already used one of my credit cards to fill the truck up and tried to use another one to get cash but did not know the pin#. I was going to go down to the Santa Rita mountains tomorrow but it looks like I will be changing locks and waiting to see if this yayhoo tries to come back for more..................god help him if he does
CouesWhitetail Report post Posted February 18, 2005 Sounds like he may have had you patterned. If you do that warm-up everyday, he must have known that in order to be there at the right 2 minutes. What a bummer.... Amanda
111 Report post Posted February 18, 2005 That sucks. Kinda got to expet that in the Tucson area though. A lot of friends and even my old high school football coach have gotten their trucks stolen down there. One of the trucks stolen they just stripped it and left in the middle of the street. Hope somebody finds it.
COUESAZ Report post Posted February 18, 2005 It is the cards and wallet that suck the most. I have had my identety stolen two time and each time it costs me lots of time and money until it all gets worked out. I do fill for you.
az4life Report post Posted February 19, 2005 Identity theft is REALLY UGLY. I suggest you contact all 3 of the Credit bureaus today! Call them and ask them to put a fraud alert on your identity. It is free an it will last for 6 months. They will not do credit checks for companies to issue credit to "you" or anyone using your name without first contacting you. Doesn't hurt your score but simply lets you know that someone applied for credit in your name. Experian Equifax Trans Union Easy to Google them to get the web addresses. Good Luck! billrquimby Report post Posted February 19, 2005 My wife and I have had two vehicles stolen in past 10 years. Her car was taken from our carport in the middle of the night three years ago. The jerks who stole it left a Blazer behind that they'd stolen earlier that night. They then drove about two miles to an apartment complex where a security guard caught them trying to steal another car. They then rammed the guard's truck with her car, sped away at high speed and lost control and totalled it when they went airborne and landed on a four-foot-tall berm! They then stole another car a half mile away and got away. To my knowlege, they were never caught. My new 4x4 Silverado truck and my secretary's Jeep were stolen from my office parking lot two weeks before my long-awaited sheep hunt (it took 39 years to draw that tag) was scheduled to begin. Inside my truck were two Nikon camera bodies, three expensve lenses, a .357 S&W handgun, two walkie-talkies, an assortment of hand tools ... and my sheep tag! I received an awful lot of ribbing when I went to GFD for a duplicate. Twelve months after the truck was stolen I got a telephone call from the embassy in Hermosillo. My truck had been recovered in Sinaloa and was being brought back to the states. By then, the truck belonged to my insurance company. In both cases Farmers was outstanding and fair. (Ditto when we had a fire in our home in 2003.) But my troubles weren't over after losing that truck. Two days into the sheep hunt I was changing a flat tire when the high-lift jack slipped off the bumper and dropped the truck onto my left arm, leaving me with compound fractures of both long bones. We were an hour from pavement and an hour from a hospital in Phoenix. Fortunately, the doctor who treated me was a hunter and he installed two steel plates in the arm and rigged me up with a cast I could shoot from. I was back in camp 36 hours after the accident and shot my ram on the 12th day of the season. It completed my Arizona Big Ten.
azcouesandelk Report post Posted February 19, 2005 Man i am sorry about that. I know how you feel though we had our truck stolen when we only had it for 5 days and it had only 160 miles on it.
azpackhorse Report post Posted February 19, 2005 Dang billrquimby, I don't feel so bad now! It can always be worse I guess. This is our 2nd truck to have been stolen in 2 years, my wife went into Lowes on Oracle rd and when she came out her 99 Ford Super Duty was gone, I was out scouting for javelina at the time and when she called me I kinda ribbed her a little.........got paid back yesterday! I lost around $2000.00 in equiptment also in my truck, including 12x42 Pentax binos, tripod, tools, camo, and a bunch of other stuff. When I called my insurance agent yesterday to discuss my options for the contents of my truck (which auto insurance doesn't cover) they sounded bothered by my questions and warned me that my premium on my home owners policy would increase if I claim the stuff, I beleive that on Monday I will visit them in person and we will then discuss my options of cancelling my policy and perhaps a little lesson in customer service. Thank you for the suggestion az4life, I did that this morning. You only have to call one of the credit agencies and they will share the info with the others.
