Jalt Report post Posted September 10 Being new to hunting turkey, the past few years I have put in for both spring and fall and drew a tag for 6B this coming October. Being from back east where back in the 80's and 90's the fall turkey hunts coincided with whitetail archery and I always enjoyed seeing turkeys and having the options to switch during the course of the day, which can be very productive. Now the dilemma, I was all good in heading up north for 6B hunt, but all my friends keep telling me I am loosing the opportunity for a spring hunt where success would be higher in bagging a Gobbler by burning my points for the up-coming fall hunt. So I have milled this thought should I surrender my tag and hold off for a possible spring hunt (with 3 points) or enjoy the woods and if luck has it bag a bird. I have to figure in at 67 years young, there are only so many years to point save. As always to my fellow AHF members, your thoughts are greatly appreciated
Crazymonkey Report post Posted September 10 For me it's time in the woods. I've had 1 spring turkey and 3 fall all in 6a . It didn't really seem to make a huge difference in finding turkey. I call and if I don't screw it up they respond. I'll be up for the fall 6a hunt in a few weeks again . Good thing is I'm headed up to help on my buddies archery elk hunt this afternoon so I might get some valuable info.
Jalt Report post Posted September 10 yes, I am in the same situation, I am heading up to 6b the week before for friend elk hunt. So what was your fall hunts like as to being successful?
twistzz Report post Posted September 10 Personally I like the spring hunt because you can call them in. Fall hunting is totally different, more ambushing or sitting water. Either way good luck and enjoy the woods!
