Any moa rail tends to make getting zero on a scope harder to get at close range.  Essentially it angles the scope down and a scope with not enough elevation adjustment will not be able to get a zero at 100 yards.  The more MOA you add to the rail, the more likely you are to not be able to get a zero at 100 yards.

If you don't have enough travel in your scope to zero at 100 with a 20 moa rail a 25 or 30 is going to move your bottom elevation even further out. If you're looking for a 100 yard zero you need a 0 moa or 10 moa rail instead.

Question, if I have a 20moa, and I can zero at 150 at bottom of adjustment. Then I add a piece of 120 grit sand paper and I can zero at 100. Only problem is a 300rum recoil it does seat long. So why ouldnt a higher moa work. Im not arguing , but definitely listening

Something is not right maybe zero stop is set and not letting you get the travel you should get? There is no reason  you shouldn’t be able to zero on a 0 MOA or 20 MOA rail.

If you have a scope that is level to bore (0 MOA rail) say you have  100 MOA of total adjustment and you zero at 100 yards the scope should zero around mid travel of scope adjustment with 50 MOA up and 50 MOA to use on the turret.
If you put a 20 MOA rail on you are angling the scope down and you zero your rifle at 100 yards you should be about 30 MOA down and 70 MOA of upward travel to use on the turret. The more rail you put on the further your getting from middle zero of the scope. Hope this helps a little.

The higher the MOA on the rail the more your scope will be canted downwards and your barrel will be canted upwards. If you are adding sandpaper to the front of the rail that's why you're able to get the zero, you're removing cant from the rail.

No, sand paper on the back of the rail. I believe I got it. Talked to my old gunsmith who moved, darn it. But Matt said 2 ways,

1- if zeroing at 150yrds the either remove turret and replace and put zero at the 150yrd but he wouldn't even worry about it on that gun.

2- Pull off turret and reset 0 stop on the scope itself, he said I should have enough travel on that scope to us a 0 moa rail.

So now Youtube.

Thanks for the help.

I have 2- 20moa and 1- 30moa rail for saje.

If one cannot get the cant they are seeking in a rail, maybe consider the Burris XTR Signature rings?   They come with inserts that can adjust cant from 0 to 40 MOA.  The inserts look like cam bearings and the cant is adjustable 360 degrees, which can solve other problems...  I just set my. 300 Win up with these rings and plan to put them on my RUM in the future.
