New Rules starting 8-10-24

Recommended Posts

I don’t see any problem with not allowing walkers game ear type devices. Surely those of you that use them for ear protection can put some ear plugs in.  They should ban electronic calls also.

Where are you guys seeing no radios? I see no mentioning of radios.

if they were talking about radios in the ARS they’re gonna be more specific than “listening device.” They’re taking about listening devices, not radios.

but it would be cool if they banned radios as well

I've used hand calls for coyotes since the 80's but bought one last year. Haven't used it yet. It took a long time for me to warm up to them but they definitly  have their purpose. Especially when hunting solo.

I don't think they are legal for Elk or Turkey.

So what about my own trash can that the city picks up and takes to the dump? My property is essentially private property but where do we start splitting hairs here.

I honestly took this to mean that if you're going to do your processing in the field meaning breaking the animal farther down than just quartering and actually butchering it in camp to not leave the remnants out there...

There always seems to be a pretty high level of ambiguity in these new rules.

This rule is solely to help keep CWD out of AZ.  From what the AZGFD vet told me is there were a large number of AZ hunters hunting out of state and returning with cervids and dumping their remains on public and private property.

I'm still waiting for a response from one of the employees that was on the team for the listening technology rule, but what I've gotten so far is that the rule is intended to get out ahead of the technology that would allow acoustic recording devices that can gather data linked to satellites and then somehow be downloaded to datafiles that then can be tied to gps technology or something like that. Hearing aids, cell phones and stuff like that weren't mentioned but when I get better clarification, I will pass it on.

Electronic calls are only illegal for migratory game birds as governed by Federal Law.  AZ law has no such limits.

Only with a crossbow permit and a champ permit. Need both.

they were easier to get than changing your g&f portal password
