Dreaded nonresident burned 11 points

Recommended Posts

Should be a good tag! Spent most of my life in those hills but cant seem to draw even the easy tags now. Beautiful country you will not forget. Keep in mind less than 1 percent of all hunters will ever kill a 100 inch buck in their lives. Some others may kill a stack. You get out of it what u put into it.  Coues meat is very good. Depending on where you hunt, you may or may not meet up with the dreaded shin daggers. Glass a lot and be prepared for no rut activity.  Hopefully you may see some early but don't count on it. If you have any other questions feel free to ask.

I would prob shoot the first adult buck you see or be prepared and ok with not filling the tag. 33 is not a trophy unit by any stretch.

should be a good hunt, I used to hunt it often.

Unit 33 has a ton of diversity… Saguaros to ponderosa. Such a beautiful unit. Can’t help with deer tips, but I know the south side of the mountain pretty well and am happy to answer any questions about good places to camp if you DM me.

My cousin just helped on a youth hunt this past weekend. The young man had  killed 1   3x3 in the past. Well that kid killed a coues over 100 on Sunday. The lower tag numbers have definitely helped out the quality of deer in 33. I've hunted OTC archery in there the last few years and seen great bucks every time I was in there.  Good luck man. PM me if you want to talk more.

This was my hope! Glad to hear of some early success. Sending you message now! Thanks!

33 used to be great, but that was before fires and G&F issuing 2000 tags a year for several years! be prepared to see 100+ does for every buck you see. I remember the good ole days when they managed the units for a 4 or 5 to 1 buck to doe ratio. nowadays it 1:100 i guess they figure a buck can breed 100 does.

there are still big bucks in 33, but they take a lot of work. good luck!

My nephew had the unit two weeks ago.  Saw 11 bucks. 9 were branch antlered including 1 behemoth in 2.5 days of hunting.

Well it’s a couple days before the last day but I’m interested to know how it went!

This dreaded nonresident is finally allowing himself to get excited. Plan A, B, and C is figured out with lots of other plans and ideas waiting in the wings if need be. I just need December 15th to get here…

Thank you to those who have reached out to me. It’s been a lot of fun just talking hunting!
